You survived. Now it’s time to heal. The Wounds We Carry is a powerful and compassionate guide for anyone living in the long shadow of childhood trauma and Complex PTSD. Written by trauma survivor and healing advocate Emily Grace Carter, this book blends lived experience with research-backed practices to help you break free from the invisible burdens you've been carrying for years.

Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, ashamed, or exhausted, this book will meet you where you are—with empathy, honesty, and hope.

Inside, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the roots and symptoms of Complex PTSD
  • Calm your overactive nervous system using mindfulness and breathwork
  • Reconnect with your inner child and rebuild emotional safety
  • Set healthy boundaries and regain self-trust
  • Gently process shame, grief, anxiety, and dissociation

This is not a clinical textbook—it’s a soul-level conversation. A guide from someone who’s been there.

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about remembering who you were before the world wounded you.

If you’re ready to release what no longer serves you, reclaim your voice, and build a future rooted in self-compassion, this book is your next step.

You are not broken. You are healing.

This is one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to in a while. The author explains things with such clarity and gentleness that it's obvious she has traversed this journey in herself. The sections on nervous system regulation, inner-child reconnection, and boundary-setting were compelling. The narration is warm and calm, which makes the heavier topics easier to process. Plus, even listeners without a formal PTSD diagnosis will find a lot here...insight, language for experiences they’ve never been able to describe, and practical tools they can start using right away... Highly recommend.

The Wounds We Carry offers a compassionate and relatable guide that blends Emily Grace Carter’s personal story with solid tools for tackling complex PTSD and childhood trauma. The mindfulness and boundary-setting practices gave me practical steps to calm my nervous system and rebuild trust, feeling like a gentle nudge toward self-compassion during tough emotional work.

While some sections repeat familiar inner child concepts, the honest tone and real-world advice still shine through for anyone carrying heavy wounds. Solid 4 stars—helpful for healing without being groundbreaking.
