A BRAND-NEW darkly addictive psychological thriller with the most shocking twists you’ll listen to this year, from a bestselling author.

They say blood is thicker than water. I say blood is just harder to wash off your hands.

My name’s Kimberley. I’m twenty-five. I have epilepsy, a seizure alert dog named Muffin, and a job I love as a senior housekeeper in one of London’s top hotels. I’m used to being invisible. Overlooked. Safe.

But that was before Jennifer Clifton checked in. She’s rich, powerful, terrifyingly calm — and she asks for me by name.

She offers me my dream job, working in her exclusive hotel in the Scottish Highlands. It’s more money than I ever imagined.

There’s just one catch: Don’t open the door to Room 21.

How hard can that be?

But something is wrong in this hotel. The guests give me the creeps. The staff whisper behind closed doors. And that room — the one I promised not to enter — calls to me.

I took this job for a better life. Now I’m trapped in a nightmare.

Warning: This book contains dark and disturbing themes.

This addictive thriller packed with chilling secrets is perfect for fans of Daniel Hurst, Freida McFadden, Mark Edwards, John Marrs and Jane E. James.

There are huge plot holes and it’s far fetched to begin with. The writing and narration save the story.

Pretty far fetched

This is one of those books that could have been so much better. I agree with some of the other reviews that its extremely far fetch, unrealistic and had some plot holes for sure. However, there was something that kept me listening. Maybe it's due to it being different than many in this genre and I needed a change. I can't say much without giving it away, so I won't give details. The idea was good and could have been so much better if there was more time to get into the details. The whole thing seemed rushed, especially at the end. I think if the author would have taken the time to get into the backstories of the characters more, it would have brought it up to a 4-star rating. The beginning of the book seemed to be much more developed compared to the end. I liked how Kimberly's character unfolded. You got a sense of who she was, and her back story was interesting. I also was curious to see where things would go with Emily and Jennifer. It starts to get a bit predictable about 1/3 of the way in and then it just goes off the rails. The ending felt rush and not well thought out. There are a lot of questions left unanswered as well. For a 9-hour book, I felt that more character development was needed. However, with so many characters it's hard to do so with such little time. There were about 7-8 characters that needed deeps dives IMO, but you only really get that for about 3. You cannot make the side characters play such a big part in the plot without digging deeper into why there are who they are. I think that is why some reviews are so negative and why the ending just didn't work. But I have to say, I didn't hate it. I wanted to know how it would end and it moved at a decent pace (until the end). So, not all bad.

Very Unrealistic but Not all bad

Several plot twists, some obvious, some less so. Overall a pretty good tale, though way too contrived and buttoned up at the end to be the safe side off too outlandish.

Pretty good, not great
