He clicked “yes” on a dare. She bought a failing candy shop. Now they’re neighbors for the summer—and neither is ready for what comes next.

Renley Gossage has one shot to prove she’s more than Cape Meril’s favorite cautionary tale: restore her favorite candy shop before the town writes her off like they did her father. No help, no shortcuts, and definitely no rich men wielding engagement rings and making things messy.

Theo Williams never planned on ending up in Cape Meril. A drunken game of truth or dare turned into a botched online engagement, and now he’s across the ocean, escaping his father’s control with nothing but designer shoes, misplaced confidence, and a rental next door to Renley.

She’s practical, stubborn, and covered in paint. He’s posh, persistent, and willing to use a sander if it means earning her trust.

Between collapsing drywall, gossiping neighbors, and the chaotic schemes of Renley's aunt, their forced proximity turns into something dangerously close to real.

A quirky and fun romcom about a British Lord (Theo) and new business owner (Renley). Theo is in desperate need of a fiancé and Renley is in desperate need of a financier to help fix up her business. After a bit of tangled wires, Theo finds himself at Renley's doorstep with a proposition and the story goes from there! These two definitely do not like each other at first, but Theo is quite persistent and these two end up developing a beautiful relationship!

This book has all the things one loves from a Meghan Quinn book - quirky characters, lovable side characters, crazy banter, and obvs some very good steamy scenes!

The audiobook was great - Dual POV and the narrators were amazing.

This has to be one of the funniest books I’ve read by Meghan Quinn, and listening to the audiobook while reading made the experience even better. The narration was incredible. Every narrator completely embodied their character, and the full cast brought so much life to the story. The humor hit even harder in audio form, the emotional moments landed perfectly, and the chaotic energy of this book had me grinning the entire time. It was stomach-achingly funny at points, and I genuinely never wanted the audiobook to end.

Renley and Theo were such a great pairing. Theo, a British Lord trying to save his title, and Renley, who’s fighting to save her family’s candy shop, had incredible chemistry from the start. The slow burn and tension between them were absolute torture in the best way, and the payoff felt completely worth it. Their banter was sharp, chaotic, and endlessly entertaining. Rupert and Aunt Kitty nearly stole the entire show. Every scene with them added even more humor and charm to the story.

One of my favorite parts was the mailbox letters and the constantly changing rules between Theo and Renley. The truth or dare scenes turned up the tension perfectly and made the romance even more satisfying. And the pond scenes… IYKYK. 😂

Even with its length, the story never felt slow to me. It balanced humor, romance, emotional moments, and chaos so well that I stayed completely invested the entire time.

Please only listen to this novel if you're interested in amazing narration. Only listen if you enjoy laughing until your stomach hurts. Only listen if you appreciate world-class banter. Only listen if you love a good love story. Because this book is such a good time and if you aren't in the mood for that, then this is not the book for you. Theo is unhappy in his posh, privileged life. Theo is unhappy in his posh, privileged life. His future has already been decided right down to his future wife and children. Sigh. And his future bride-to-be has been known to sniff pits. Oh, hell no. So his best friend did what all best friends would do. He made an online dating profile on fiances.com. I mean, he had no choice, right? And between the few matches he had, there was only one that seemed "normal". So he set sail (or actually just bought a first-class ticket) to America. He meets Renley. Except Renley wasn't looking for a fiancé. She was looking for a financier. I mean, honest mistake. Pretty close, actually. Anyone could have made the leap. Except Liam was smitten. And Renley was....not. This novel is a hilarious romcom (as no one can deliver as Meghan Quinn can) about two unlikely people just looking for money and love, but finding common ground and an honest need to be needed and taken care of. This book is filled with banter, hilarious situations, hobby horsing-yes, that hobby horsing, and love. It has it all. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!

The narration of a broadway theater show!

Narration was a bit weird. Surprisingly not-that-great book by Meghan Quinn who's usually much better at plot than this. The book's interest hangs mainly on banter rather than plot twists. I'm not sure if it's the writing or the readers, but the banter was not as interesting as normal for Quinn. I actually think it may have been the readers.

So-so narration
