Publisher's summary

Declan McGillis can't stand rich people. But working as a deckhand on a luxury charter yacht, he also can't escape them. Declan has spent years kissing their ass and doing their bidding... whatever it takes to make his dreams come true, and nothing will get in his way of being the captain of his own yacht one day.

Mackenzie Armstrong knows what people think when they look at her. She knows from the outside looking in, it seems like her family has it all and doesn't have a care in the world. Things aren't always what they seem, and not only does Mackenzie have the weight of her family's struggles on her shoulders, she also needs to prove to Declan that she's not the spoiled princess he believes her to be. Declan can't ignore the sparks of lust between them, even though Mackenzie is completely off limits and absolutely out of his league. Mackenzie thinks a vacation fling is just what she needs to forget about the mess her life has become, and Declan is the perfect man for the job.

Will this be a quick romp in the water, or will it turn into something more when Mackenzie finally gets below Deck?

Below Deck is a great book!

If you could sum up Below Deck in three words, what would they be?

fun sexy steamy

What did you like best about this story?

The heroine really made the hero swallow his preconceptions

Which scene was your favorite?

The epilogue that tied the whole story and the future of the couple together.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, absolutely.

Any additional comments?

Below Deck is a great book! I had a hard time putting it down. In fact, I bought the Audible to listen to while working and doing chores so I wouldn’t have to take a time out and stop “reading”. It really was exciting to read and watch the story unfold. I imagined the actual TV show during reading and it really filled a gap from my favorite TV show. It was a fun, light read with some seriously sexy steamy scenes. I really love how the heroine makes the hero swallow his preconceptions of who she is just because she is on the charter with her family.

Good story

I liked the story, well written. I didn’t care for the female narrator, she over used her sexy voice too much.

Very enjoyable audio book!

The narrators did a great job of bringing the story to life and the main characters all blended well together. The loss of a star on the story was that parts of the story had nearly 60 seconds of angst for each line of pertinent story. Most of the book flowed very well but it drives me insane when authors go way overboard on angst or self-doubt (almost like watching SNL skits drag on well past their funniest scenes).

I will continue to read her books as they are very entertaining and I enjoy her writing style overall!

OK Listen

Would you try another book from Tara Sivec and/or Samantha Prescott and Brian Pallino ?

I love Brian Pallino. He did a great job in this book. The female narrator Samantha Prescott left something to be desired which is weird because another book she narrated I loved her in. So I'm leaning more towards the book material that I could not connect with.

Any additional comments?

I just couldn't connect with the characters in this book. Declan was too wishy washy. I can understand him being focused on his goals but he got annoying. I liked Mackenzie but sheesh she fell in love so quick I just couldn't connect. I think its because the romance moved kind of fast for me. It was not a great book but it wasn't bad either. I think a lot of people may like this book but it was just ok for me.

Not my favorite but a good read

I enjoyed the story but can’t say I was a fan of the narration done by Samantha Prescott, she was a little robotic in the way she spoke. It was hard to really feel Mackenzie as a character because of that. I was a bit annoyed with how dumb Declan was, naturally, how dense can someone be and how poor can someone be at communicating! Haha it was a fun read otherwise.

Sweet and Simple

Honestly a super easy listen nothing to dark nothing to stressful. I genuinely enjoyed this read. It was like a vacation from reality. Nice and fun.

I couldn’t put it down!

I love Tara’s books as they are riveting and this was one I couldn’t put down! But Brian and Samantha were amazing and really brought the book to life with distinction!

⚠️☢ SKIP THIS BOOK☢⚠️

If you like this author and their books this is your warning, SKIP this one! I really like this author and her books but this was a major let down! Not funny like most of her books. It is a rip off of the reality tv show with the same name..INCLUDING some of reality casts names! I guess we know where she got her Inspiration!

The H is super annoying! 1st I'm not a fan of this male narrator, he sounds like a petulant teenage boy. The way the author wrote his character added to this image of him. The H is constantly having to apologize and suffers from a major inferiority complex! H treats the h horribly through out because he assumes the worst of everything because her father is wealthy. He does this over and over and over again! it's not sexy AT ALL! There you have it some free advice take it or leave it.

Wow.....not in a good way

So this is a first for me: fast forwarding just to end it. I have loved each of the dozen-ish books from Tara Sivec.

Declan - There's alphas, and I guess there is cromagnans who need ADD meds. He was 32? Character made more sense if you imagined a 14yo boy, he was so impulsive. McKenzie? I liked her less and less as the book progressed, she's beyond weak...and needs to be evaluated for dementia.

The performance was what finally clicked the fast forward button. The male narrator in an attempt to sound sexy all.the.time, just sounded irritable with a side of constipation. I started dreading hearing his POV. And the female one couldn't lay off the angst...there was little variation.

Sample the performance first

Was not expecting this!

Ever since I listened to Tara’s first book I was hooked and have listened to almost all of her books. This one was so......I don’t even have the words smh. All The guy (hero) of this book did was compline and treat the Heroine like shot just because she had money. He constantly repeated the same crap over and over and treated her like shot and she just kept coming back for more. I wanted to smack her and tell her to get some self respect. Stand up for yourself and tell him to jump off a cliff ( in thought to myself) but she never did. I had to fast forward constantly because I couldn’t handle how idiotic this 30 something guy (acted like a 13yr old) was or how much of a door mat she was! Her sultry sexy voice was was just beyond annoying and I found myself telling her to shut up constantly (I think her other audio books are great) and I don’t know why she was so terrible in this one other than the story was probably to blame! I was seriously surprised Tara wrote such a horrible story cause I love everything else she’s written! Don’t waste your time on this book pls. ✌️
