But now, in this extraordinary, groundbreaking book, the nation's leading expert on predicting violent behavior unlocks the puzzle of human violence and shows that, like every creature on earth, we have within us the ability to predict the harm others might do us and get out of its way. Contrary to popular myth, human violence almost always has a discernible motive and is preceded by clear warning signs.

Everyone would benefit from seeing further into the future, whether buying stocks, crafting policy, launching a new product, or simply planning the week's meals. Unfortunately, people tend to be terrible forecasters. As Wharton professor Philip Tetlock showed in a landmark 2005 study, even experts' predictions are only slightly better than chance. However, an important and underreported conclusion of that study was that some experts do have real foresight.

And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. Professor Edelstein examines the enduring appeal of Judy Blume’s books. Over seven lessons, you’ll learn how Blume pioneered middle-grade and young adult (YA) literature and helped to make these genres the global sensations they are today. You’ll identify the themes and motifs that run throughout her books, and you’ll review Blume’s books as literary work worthy of analysis. You’ll also see why the very act of questioning (about the existence of God, the persistence of racism, the unwritten rules of suburbia) is so central to Blume’s vision of coming-of-age literature.

Such an important part of life and so neglected and misunderstood
Love all of the different exercises, I am a somatic therapist and a synthesthete, and for so long, I thought there was something wrong with me.. until I learned what it was a couple of years ago and have been devotionally exploring the senses and teaching others how to use them.
I will definitely share this book !

beyond the five senses
I really enjoyed this person's commentary on our five senses. I like the one pertain to the deaf person and he was being able to hear the music through the vibrations that pulsates through his body. talked about people and their sex talked about pain talked about site some people have a tendency to see words in color. when I read I have a tendency to see the story in action if it's a story. if it's a manual pertain to put things together I can actually see the items being put together and functioning. I liked her total comments. bravo for her stepping out of her comfort zone. we all need challenges outside our comfort zone
