Publisher's summary

What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town? The answer, you fall for him.

It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding.

We had a plan. It was a good one. Until it wasn’t.

I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close. I especially wasn’t going to melt when I saw him play with my daughter. Most of all I was not going to sleep with him.

Nope. None of that was supposed to happen, but it does.

Now I find myself dreaming of him every night. Wishing we were really a couple, because the way he kisses me doesn’t feel as if it’s pretend.

But we’ve both watched our dreams shatter, and I can’t handle another broken heart.

A first for Corrine and for me :)

After finishing Broken Dreams I’m left wondering if / when the true Corrine will show up. For the first time in all the years I’ve been an avid fan I actually laughed more than I ever have and didn’t shed a single tear. Needless to say I LOVED Broken Dreams but now I am terrified of the next book will bring.

🎧 Narration: i finished my arc & immediately had to listen to the audio after i heard a clip. it did not disappoint. sebastian york was absolutely perfect for grady. he was gruff but soft & he did an excellent job with the stern vibes during the spicy scenes 🔥 kit swann did a really nice job as addison. she did such a great voice for grady & the kids. overall the audio enhanced the book & i would recommend the audio.

oh gosh this one was a heart wrenching story premise but corinne (per usual) wrote it so well i felt so satisfied & happy with grady & addison’s love story. bonding over tragedy brought the two together & wanting to accomplish moving into the next step of their lives has the two hatching a fake dating plan that is supposed to be straight forward & easy. but these two just had too much chemistry for it to go according to plan 🤣 instead they slowly & deliciously go from friends to lovers to falling in love 😍. i adored this story & cannot wait for more visits to sugarloaf.

One criticism

I don't like Kit Swann's male voice, and her imitation of children is annoying as well. Otherwise, it's a great listen. It's sexy, and also manages to be funny and thoughtful. Sebastian York is always a great narrator.

Story line

I love how the story captures your attention right away. I especially love the added scene at the end of the book.

Loved it!

Another good story by this author. I haven't listened to one yet that I didn't enjoy. This one was no different. I did grt a little frustrated with the MMC and wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to get over himself...but that's half the fun of these books is watching how the MCs evolve and finally come around. Performance was excellent. These two are some of my favorite narrators.

Great book

This one was really steamy! Storyline was good! I never pass up an opportunity to listen to Sebastian York narrate! If his name is in it I’m listening. The female narrator was also great. I don’t think I have listened to her before. I enjoyed this second book in the series!

📖 I really enjoyed this second book in the series that follows Grady and his young son, and Addison and her young daughter, both after losing their spouses unexpectedly several years earlier. They find each other making a deal to fake date but soon realize they enjoy each other’s company and have chemistry that is off the charts. Ooo baby! Corinne turned up the heat in this one! The intimacy and spice between Addison and Grady was absolute perfection. Watching them become vulnerable with each other and the idea of love, after a heartbreaking loss in the past, was beautiful. And their kiddos were precious!
I have read all of Corinne’s backlist except for Rose Canyon at this point, and while this is definitely considered a standalone I do kind of wish I had read Rose Canyon first. It felt like there was more history and backstory I would have appreciated had I read it first and I love how Corinne ties in characters from other series.

🎧 Sebastian York and Kit Swann did a great job in this narration. Sebastian has a deep, rich voice that could alternate between dominate, teasing, and sweet. I absolutely cracked up at his portrayal of Grady’s 3 year old son’s drama king persona. Kit Swann was wonderful as Addison. She has a medium pitch voice that is warm and expressive. I felt the emotions as she voiced Addison: nervousness and anxiety as she walked a new path, the love and devotion she had for her daughter, and the comfort and peace she found with Grady.

What an amazing story!!

Although I spent a LOT off this book calling Grady an idiot…. He grew on me and got smart!! Addie was/is perfect for him and their story made me laugh and cry. It an amazing tale of love after loss that will keep you reading all the way through… or listening which is what I did.

Excellent narrators.. great story.. I want more!!!

Love the storyline

I enjoyed this book very much. when a book is able to bring out different emotions it means it is doing what it is meant to. I laughed, cried, got mad...Look forward to the others

not my favorite corrine michaels book.

the woman narrator has a terrible man's voice it was distracting she speaks in a very over dramatic way but other than that the story was a bit predictable but good.
