Resumen del Editor
Embrace transformation with awareness and compassion
Whether it's a bad habit in need of breaking or a strength ripe for cultivation, nearly everyone has some aspect of themselves that they wish they could change. And yet, many of us find actually implementing this kind of transformation so overwhelming that we often give up before we even start.
As an acclaimed expert in mind-body science, Dr. Kelly McGonigal understands what it truly takes - mentally, emotionally, and even physically - to make personal changes stick. With Choose to Change: Six Weeks to Take Charge of Your Habits, Goals, and Emotional Patterns, Kelly presents a curriculum for identifying what you want to shift and laying the groundwork for truly lasting transformation. Through a blend of lecture, experiential exercises, guided meditations, and more, Kelly helps you identify your core values, implement small changes gradually, and mindfully engage with new behaviors so they remain beneficial for years to come. In addition, you'll receive homework and self-reflection practices for hands-on enrichment of these insights.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Like many forms of spirituality and meditation, compassion practice has been shown by research to enhance your health, psychological well-being, relationships, and sense of purpose. "The unique quality of compassion," teaches Dr. Kelly McGonigal, "is that its benefits extend to the one who offers it, the one who receives it, and all those who witness compassion in action." Exercise is health-enhancing and life-extending, yet many of us feel it's a chore. But as Kelly McGonigal reveals, it doesn't have to be. Movement can and should be a source of joy. Through her trademark blend of science and storytelling, McGonigal draws on insights from neuroscience, psychology, anthropology, and evolutionary biology, as well as memoirs, ethnographies, and philosophers. She shows how movement is intertwined with some of the most basic human joys, including self-expression, social connection, and mastery.

We try to change via self hate, but dont have to!
I love Choose to Change because it is a swan dive into change through self love, even loving that part of ourself that we hope to change, and the truth is that is the proven best way to go about changing! This might not be the back to back statistics of some of McGonigal's previous titles, but it is well worth the read!

Horrible audio quality
This is the audio side og an online course, which I am sure was great. Sounds like there was some written material to go with that course. You don't get that here.
I only listened to the first two or three chapters, and I probably won't listen to more. As great as the content may be, the audio quality is simply too annoying.

Recorded from an online class
Inconsistent, sometimes terrible audio quality. Should've included an accompanying workbook or slides from the online class this was ripped off from. Content is repeated meditations so length of book is misleading.
I had listened to her on YouTube but this "book" was disappointing in its quality.
