Least favorite of this series

The will they or won't they is always necessary, but holy smokes, it goes on for 3.5 hours, and their story just isn't interesting enough to pull that off. I also felt like this Lola was so spineless compared to the Lola in the other novels. The Beautiful series is so much better!

In love with Oliver

Thank you, Christina Lauren for this series. I have become a huge fan of all your books. I'm thankful this book didn't disappoint. Lola and Oliver's story is sweet. It does have its fair share of frustration. It is definitely worth your time.

Ok, but not great

Love these authors; love this series. This one was probably the weakest of the three, though. Story was okay. A little boring. Lacked the excitement of the previous two. I was disappointed because I love nerds, and I never fully understood Oliver. I'll still continue supporting this series. I hope there's a book for Not Joe. He's become a favorite!

Kudos on the great Aussie accent! I looked forward to Oliver's POV to listen to it.

Goos but a little irritating

This was a good listen but nothing like the previous one.
Lola and Oliver love and friendship is cute but annoying.
They keep their distance and deny their love and relation for way too long...
Bored me.

First time reviewing

I had a hard time with this story . Mostly I didn't like Lola.
She was so annoying. And it made it difficult to listen to the book.

A bit more interesting

These books are obviously all about sex, that's why I buy them. But the content in this one was better than others from this author. There were more realistic details about the leading woman's chosen career. Although I still found the character development pretty shallow and the ending abrupt. The only thing that bothered me about the performance was the female voice. She hits a crescendo in every sentence, it's a bit odd. Not every line needs to be a roller coaster of emphasis.

Best book of the series

I love Christina Lauren! Perfect series after finishing the beautiful series! Always wanting more! She gets you attached to the characters so easily. Keep the books coming!

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!

Christina Lauren delivered another winner! Lola and Oliver were not on my radar as a couple I'd be interested in learning more about, but, in true CL fashion they've created characters that you can't help but delight in, as they figure out their HEA.

Dark Wild Night was pretty close to perfection, and a close runner up to the Beautiful series in terms of sexiness, humor, and overall awesomeness! I didn't want this one to end. I can't wait for the next Christina Lauren book; until then, this a 'listen and repeat' for sure. Highly recommended!

It was a great story line but really to the ending i wish it was more too it.

Unexpectedly dissapointed!

Where does Dark Wild Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Compared to other books by Christina Lauren, this one fell short. :(

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Once Lola and Oliver give in to their feelings for each other, which was written so passionately and tenderly, without shock value. I was listening, feeling like their love story was finally moving forward. From there, I was left unexpectedly dissapointed. :( Lola was so insecure and she over analyzed every thought and emotion. Leading to me feeling stressed for her. I felt that there was no release from that tension. By the end, I was so completely frustrated and that I became irritated with the characters and the storyline. Then, there was NO closure on how Razor Fish came out? Were her ideas heard and adapted? We don't know. One last note: When did Oliver become so 'aggressive' with Lola? Calling her flithy in the same sentence as glorious? It didn't match the rest of his character development, in my amateur opinion. Now, had their physical relationship been explored more...maybe this would have made more sense.

Spoiler...don't read on: Now, I am not a writer, so forgive my 'arm-chair authoring', but I would have liked the storyline to go something like this: Oliver supports Lola throughout the movie process with the love and passion he shared with her the first night they got together. She leans on him to in the writing process of June Bug and the conflict would be a misinterpretted situation with Austin or another LA person. Maybe she is interviewed and doesn't mention Oliver in her life...devastating him. He pulls away, but they get back together when she expresses her love for him in a way that would match his for her. The epilogue would have been at the movie premier where the whole gang is there to support her. An interviewer asks Lola why there was no love story between Razor Fish and Quinn (proving she kept to her foot down on that fact) and she replies something to the fact that some love is like that of Father to daughter, like Quinn and Razor Fish, while other love is that of wild nights in Vegas. The reporter then quickly asks her what kind of love she has in her life? She says love that is grounded in friendship and mutual respect for one another. That when you find that kind of love, trust it, cherish it, believe in it and rely on it. Again, I am not a writer and I am sure this sounds predictable, but I just felt like this story fell really short.

What about Steve West and Shayna Thibodeaux ’s performance did you like?

I always like Shayna's narrating...and I agree Steve West, does not do a 'good' woman's voice. I wish they had used Sebastian York. :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The first night they spent together. Again, it was beautifully written without being trashy. It really moved their relationship forward.

Any additional comments?

I am still a fan of Christina Lauren and will continue to read their books. This book isn't bad, just not as good as some of the others I have read. Beautiful Bastard is my favorite!
