Publisher's summary

Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch, which was why she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (a.k.a. witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered she was a demon, and her hot crush, Archer Cross, was an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping her kind off the face of the earth. What's worse, Sophie has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is why she decides to go to London for the Removal, a risky procedure that will either destroy her powers forever-or kill her. But once Sophie arrives, she makes a shocking discovery: someone is raising new demons in secret and planning to use their powers to destroy the world. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they're using Archer to do it. But it's not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?

Second time with this book, still just as good.

I read these books years ago in grade school and fell in love with them. Recently downloaded audible to listen to books, as my eyesight has gotten extremely poor. This series of books is still just as great as they were all those years ago! Feels more juvenile now, as I’m older, but very much still enjoyable. I only wish they would convert the hex ball series into film.

I enjoyed this least of the series, but did enjoy

This one stopped me from finishing the series a few years ago. I didn't like the plot twists because I felt they were a little too much after everything. However, they didn't hit me that same way the second time reading it. Still, the first and third are slightly higher ratings in my book.

Wow I normally don't get to the 2nd book in a YA..

I love how YA books suck me in...but normally I lose interest after the first book due to predictability...but this series keeps you on your toes and is interesting, and characters are believable.

More tolerable than the first book

I actually finished this one (could not finish the first book). Typical teen melodrama with girl torn between two lovers - and a lot of life-or-death situations. Story jumps to English mansion, but fails to capture any real gothic feel. I predict third book will be adults-run-amuck, teen-saves-world. A series like this is what makes others look good.

Totally loved it, still it is a cliffhanger

I loved the story enough to recommend it and likely listen to it again. I knew I probably would because Hex Hall was the same. Too few stories on Audible cover my desired subjects and are so simple, delightful, and unpolluted with trashy imitations of romance. The voice imitations were not so amazing as some of my other favorite narrators, but so effective that I didn't have a moment of distraction caused by her performance. That puts both the author and the narrator at the top of my list of what I'd like more of.

fantastically fun read!

The Hex Hall series has to be one of the most fun paranormal YA reads, I've read in a while. The main characters snarky first person point of view is amazingly funny and down to earth. For a girl who just found out that she's a demon, in an arranged marriage to the hunky young grounds keeper and her BFF is a Young lesbian vampire.
The story is a Young teen appropriate read. With no foul language or overtly sexual innuendos, if you're a parent who looks for those qualities in their children's reading. ( I don't find it all that important ) but this author has pulled together a series with witty writing and good clean fun. Which seems to be harder and harder to find in YA these days.
However the the author does not shy away from important teenage issues such as Sexuality, sexual preference and morally challenging issues.

Still a fun read

I enjoyed this book as much as I did thr first one. There were predictable moments, but still had unexpected twists, so it was an enjoyable read. Loving the complication with the MC and her love interest as well as the added love the author keeps adding that this universe works around.
