Publisher's summary

Exploring New Earth should be a thrilling undertaking. Instead, the more the colonists learn about the planet, the more alarmed they become. Alien ruins hint at a species who fought great wars among themselves and disappeared centuries ago.

When Connor Gates discovers a hidden bunker, he finds something he never expected. Everything the colonists have learned about New Earth’s previous inhabitants is wrong. Connor must race to unravel the mystery. The colonists must face the possibility that they are not alone and that New Earth was never theirs for the taking.

Good read but ..

The story line is good but some of it is tedious and does not add much to the plot.

Looks like some thing are still kicking around

This one puts us back in Connor's shoes and it's a welcome change. So if book 4 put you off this one will bring you back.

Go Conner

Best book in the series so far. I'm disappointed in the book legnth and it appears that this series is headed in the "not as much value for your credit direction." I, as many people do, pick books on length along with many other criteria. No less than 12 hours of entertainment is a good trade for a credit. Just my opinion.

Is it finished?

Although this is the fourth book, every one of them could stand alone but this one leaves me wondering "what's next?". The story is compelling and kept me wanting more. Man's search for life is neverending but when we find it...is it a good thing?!? Not necessarily.

Would like to know what happens now. I will wait to see if another book is put out. Until then - good job by the narrator. Totally enjoyed his reading.

Slow unraveling of New Earth mysteries-Disappoints

Emphasis on slow. A book so short shouldn't have such a slow start. One of the mysteries in the book involve wondering why the main character, Conner is Mayor as well as principal explorer. We gradually discover(with Conner) mysteries associated with the NEIIS (New Earth Indigenous Intelligent Species) apparently pronounced "Newies" and Ryclar. The archaeological techniques using thermite explosives, shovels and hands seem more akin to Schliemman(who used similar techniques to excavate Troy in 1875) than a space-faring archaeologist. Disappointing.

Very good Concept - back to Connor Gates

I thought this book was an excellent continuation of a series that has really gone far. All books so far have been totally unique, but the saga and the new world has really expanded. This one really focused back on the original Connor Gates - he is mostly featured and his role in this book is perfect. Back to being a badass and back to being the focal point; but this story is much more. It really show the progression of the storyline, where the story can go, and keeps you guessing. yea there are some frustrating characters written in - but you have to paint the picture somehow as a writer. I think this is one of the best, but I think that after each title in this series. Keep it up, you can expand this "universe" in many different directions.
