Publisher's summary
For Corps of Discovery Explorer Bill Clark, exploring parallel worlds in the multiverse is all in a day’s work, so entering the Confederate States of America was easy. Leaving is a different matter. Being hunted by some of the most dangerous people on this alternate timeline, the small team of Explorers must use their wits, skills, and experiences to outsmart their deadly foes and get home. Even if that means leaving the secret of a new technology behind, one that will shift the balance of power. But Bill isn’t about to do that. The stakes are too high.
The Explorers have been in dangerous situations before, but this one is different. This time, getting out alive may well prove impossible.
VDVMagazine Geodesy and Geoinformatics (German Academic Journal) Review: "Both books are highly recommended to read. In a technical world, they are reminiscent of the works of Karl May. The books are captivating and exciting in their richly detailed and addictive nature."

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
He opened a portal to a parallel Earth where humans don't exist. For physicist Tim Bowman, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime, but one fraught with peril. Opportunity and danger await, particularly when the local fauna views you as a snack. Humans may not live here but the mega-fauna of the Pleistocene does, hungry and waiting. But this is nothing compared to what his government back home is planning for him. Book 1 in an exciting new series, The Hayek Chronicles, by the author of the Corps of Discovery series.

A time-travel adventure that just might make you a believer. The Time Machine by H. G. Wells was fun, as was the enjoyable A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle and Jack Finney's delightful Time and Again. If you enjoyed these books, you’ll definitely want to read Mission in Time. However, after reading Mission in Time, this might be the first time you actually find yourself believing in time travel. Imagine being sent on a time-travel mission expecting to arrive in a certain period of time and finding yourself in a very different era—a major period in the history of the United States....

What if pro-slavery Democrats kept their party united and won the election of 1860? What if Jefferson Davis became President of a pro-slavery Union, while Abraham Lincoln must decide whether to fight for a new birth of freedom outside it? In this alternate history, there will be no secession of the South. But what about the anti-slavery men in the North? Will the United States, now styled “The Confederate Union,” still be their country? “Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that ...

Could have been much better
I like the idea... Not so much execution. Needs editing - I guess people don't bother anymore, At least proof-reading then? Still no? Darn. Could have helped to clear quite a few little silly things such as knots, for instance. Don't they teach geographers that a knot (a nautical mile an hour) is a measure of a vessel's (or plane's) speed, not distance at sea? There are no "knots an hour". That'd be acceleration... No-one measures distance at sea in knots...
Virtual voice was actually pretty amazing. Granted, not perfect, but still :o) I guess the actual text must be adapted for a computer to read it properly. Eg. it would have been better to write "1200 hours" simply as "twelve hundred hours" so that the computer knew not to read it as "one thousand two hundred..." Or put dots to separate P. and I. to make it actually sound like a PI the private investigator rather than Pi the number...
I wonder if in probably not so distant future the virtual voice would do accents, age, sex etc different voices.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
