Publisher's summary

From USA TODAY bestselling author, C. L. Stone, listen to Fake, the third book in The Academy Scarab Beetle Series.

Still on the hunt for her missing brother, Kayli Winchester's life amid the Academy team comes to an abrupt halt when she and Brandon are kidnapped. Mistaken for his identical twin brother, Brandon's life is threatened unless he helps a team of criminals hack into a secret underground cellular network and exploit it.

The cunning Kayli makes a daring escape. With Brandon still held prisoner, she turns to the guys to help save him. Despite the team of Axel, Marc, Corey and Raven working tirelessly, this desperate search and rescue mission quickly changes into submission to the kidnappers. If the team doesn't give the bad guys what they want, someone will die.

It's unavoidable: they're going to need to bring in outside help... help that will come at a high price. Saving the guys might require Kayli to do the unthinkable, and may shatter the team forever.

Decisions decisions

This book is starts with the kidnapping of Brandon and Kayli. The rest of the book is pretty much revolves around that. She’s come along in her feelings to trust the guys but is worried that her feelings for them all will break up the group. At the end little does she know that it may actually happen. Decisions have to be made and hopefully the group will actually communicate with each other and figure something out. Honestly I did fast forward through some parts as it gets a little slow but I’m still curious on how things turn out.

Still dislike Blake Coltar…

He’s so problematic. I love the series though. I hope Tempest is released as an audiobook soon.

Spot on narration!

The narration is absolutely amazing. I love Kayli’s voice. The narrator is able to embody all the charm of a southern accent while still being easily understood!

Mistaken Identity

Mistaken for his identical twin brother, Brandon is kidnapped along with Kayli. Criminals need Corey's expert hacker skills and they will do anything to get it.

Kayli makes a daring escape and turns to the rest of the team to help save him and stop the bad guys.

A rescue mission is launched with the help of Blake and Doyle. As the threat to all increases it becomes apparent that unless they submit to the kidnappers demands someone will die.

Whatever happens the consequences could shatter the team forever. And Kayli could lose all the boys she cares for.

Another tense chapter in the Scarab Beetle series which I enjoyed listening to with Audible Escape.

Fake book 3 of The Academy

Enjoyed this book, better than Book 2 but still not as good as Book 1. Not sure why they aren't all 3 as good as each other or each one getting better and better; but they are not and different. I plan to listen to one more before giving up on the series. Hope it finally goes looking for the brother, a high school kid on his own (for all I know). This lack of concern of Kaylee really has me bothered. She seems more interested in kissing all these other men than the welfare of her brother.

why do they put up with her?!

I love The Academy world, but not sure why any of the guys put up with Kayli. She's always causing problems and it's always a double standard with her. She wants to run off half cocked and yet she gets mad when the guys actually have a full plan. She won't allow anyone to make plans and puts everyone in danger. I kinda wish/hope that at some point one of the guys will tell her to either shut up or tell her she can do whatever she wants but they won't be there to face her consequences. And it's very irritating that she says she cares about keeping innocent people safe yet has no trouble destroying anything that belongs to Blake. I love the guys and feel bad that they're all so enamored with Kayli. This book would be 5 stars if it was told from the boy's POV. Kayli is irritating enough, but having to also hear her inner thoughts makes it worse. Overall, I love both Academy series and do highly recommend.
