Publisher's summary

She thought he was arrogant. He thought her walls would never come down. Then they fell in love.

Forever walking the line between passion and conflict, Laurel and Gavin’s relationship ended in divorce after years of miscommunication and unmet expectations. Now pursuing their own separate lives and careers, the two are content . . . though not completely happy.

When their best friends, Mike and Mallory, are killed in a plane crash, Laurel and Gavin are stunned to learn they’ve been named guardians of their friends’ young daughter, Emma. Putting their differences aside, the estranged couple search for a suitable guardian as they care for Emma and manage Mike and Mallory’s apple orchard.

Soon tempers flare—as does the passion they both remember so well. And Laurel and Gavin find themselves working through their past—their mistakes, their miscommunications, and ultimately the tragedy that ended their marriage.

Will the seeds of love, still growing inside them, thrive and flourish? Or will grief and regret strangle the feelings before they can fully blossom?

Not your typical love story

I loved this series, and this book was the best of all! I adore the Robinsons and their family dynamics, and this book showed them in very believable ways as they have a hard time not begrudging the ex-wife’s sudden reappearance into their world. I love Gavin in this story. Great character arc.

Great series end

This was a good story to tie up any loose ends in the adventures of these three siblings and their loves

Ok but not the story I was expecting

This book actually has very little development of Gavin and Laurel’s reconciliation and is mostly about the adults trying to take care of the little orphaned girl. It wasn’t bad as a story, just not what the description of the book or what I’ve read of the author led me to believe it would be. If you’re looking for a book about an orphaned girl and the people who support her, this is for you. If you’re looking for romance and the love journey of a couple as the main story, read something else.

Also I got really annoyed by Laurel’s character about halfway through and then started skipping ahead because I had completely lost interest in all her depressing thoughts and life.

I also felt like it was really unrealistic that she’s a brick wall to Gavin for 38 or whatever chapters (even though she keeps saying she is so weak and can’t resist him) and then all of a sudden in the last chapter does a complete 180 and is completely warm and open and everything is all great.

I really felt like this could be such a great story idea and there is so much that could be done with it but I was really left disappointed. I do like other books by this author’s, just not this one.

Very different

I have lived these stories but this one was very different. Most of the storyline revolved around the death of friends and custody of their child. It was honestly quite sad. I did enjoy the love that was rekindled between Gavin and Laurel.

Good, but not like her others

This is my 7th Denise Hunter book I have read. I was anxiously awaiting the release of Harvest Moon and had it in pre-order for months. This wasn't a bad book, it just didn't captivate and hold my attention like the others.

After two recent losses myself, I think this one took me by surprise and that may have swayed my opinion. Maybe it could use a warning about child loss as that topic is such a sensitive one and is covered a lot in this book.

I will definitely still continue to read Denise Hunter's books. She remains a favorite of mine!
