Publisher's summary

The town of Silent Bend is about to explode into a war. Alivia swore to take the House from Jasmine after what she did, but it won't happen without retaliation. The whole town is caught in the crosshairs of their manipulation and the body count is climbing.

The explanation for Ian's change is one he just can't accept. To Alivia, it should fix all their problems, but Ian has become everything he hates most. And Liv accepting her fate and position will test their relationship to the breaking point.

The threat of the King's arrival looms just weeks away, and Alivia knows he will kill her as soon as he comes. She'll need supporters at her side - immortal ones. And that means turning old enemies into loyal subjects.

Very Good

I cried in this book. I got emotionally involved more than I realized. I struggle with the decisions with her. The heartbreak. The feeling of loneliness. To watch her relationships grow and break. I can't wait to read book 3.

2nd time around

I read these books when they first came out. Now I’m listening to the audio. It’s great! Going on to book 3 now.

House of pawns

This was an entertaining story of vampires and a daughter who never knew her true past.

wow

**Review for complete series **

I believe this is my first from Ms. Taylor and I was hesitant but the premise sounded promising and I was quickly running out of new book/authors read. I am  surprised to say that I was actually quite blown away. Here's why:
*great world building and character development.
*a relatable & like-able heroine and lovable and equally hate-able cast.
* All books were available on audio! Huge plus!! ( Only the 3rd, I believe,  had a HORRIBLE narrator, thankfully the rest were good)
*story kept me engaged from start to finish!!
It was quite not put- downable.
*can't wait to sink myself into more tales from this author!

My only negative,  which isn't really a negative for many,  is that although there is romance, it is VERY CLEAN. As in, no SEX.

There are some adult situations and settings but nothing graphic by any means. I wish this had been labeled as young adult to give me a heads up, but this is one I actually am not mad about it not being as adult as I usually like them. I was engaged and did not really miss the adult content but would've liked it more I think, if it had lol.

Good....ish

The story is good. The narrator is okay. She mispronounced quite a few words, but it doesn't detract too much from the story.

narrator ruined it

I absolutely love this series so I was very upset when I listened to it rather than read it again. The narrator is awful! She has a lovely voice that would be great if she didn't take such incredibly long pauses. Long enough for me to pick my phone up several times thinking something stopped the book. Also I heard her swallow loudly several times and that is very distracting from the fantasy and the story you are trying to immerse yourself in. I'm sure Ms Dorian is a lovely person, but maybe she could take this review as a learning experience for the next book she narrates. Her voice has great potential but her technique is very poor and uncomfortable. But... the story is as good as I remember so A+ for Keary Taylor.

Wtf did i hear

Loved the first book... 2nd book not so much... the thpught her so called boyfriend ended up being a "born" like her so that makes the related riight? then the narrator's voice is "omg too teeny to be that of a 22 year old" the book is probably based for teen girls more so women who are actually in their late 20s...
