Fascinating history and context for the West End

I'm not a theater buff, but I really enjoyed learning about the fascinating history behind the development and evolution of performance arts in London, with so much more context around the rise and fall of empires, how the reigns of various monarchs impact the culture and people's lives, etc. When I traveled to London many years ago, I didn't have any of this context during my 1-week stay and still enjoyed walking around and explored the area that's known as the West End. I can't wait to go back and visit the same places now that I have so much more appreciation for the history and culture that contributed to the modern-day scenes in London.
Highly recommend this title for anyone interested in visiting London or learning about its history and culture, especially with an interest in performance arts.

Great History of London's Theater Scene

This is such an interesting book on the history of theater in London. As an American, I am very familiar with our own arts scene. And it dawned on me that the entire world culture has its base in the fine arts, not just my own little berg. This book reminded me of how important the arts are to all cultures. It is a wonderful book to listen to at any time.
