Create a personal "power grid" of influence to spark professional and personal success.

"Other people have the answers, deals, money, access, power, and in uence you need to get what you want in this world. To achieve any goal, you need other people to help you do it." -- JUDY ROBINETT

As anyone in business knows, strategic planning is critical to achieving long-term success. In How to Be a Power Connector, super-networker Judy Robinett argues that strategic relationship planning should be your top priority.

When you combine your specific skills and talents with a clear, workable path for creating and managing your relationships, nothing will stop you from meeting your goals. With high-value connections, you'll tap into a dynamic "power grid" of influence guaranteed to accelerate your personal and professional success.

Robinett uses her decades of experience connecting the world's highest achievers with one another to help you build high-value relationships. She reveals all the secrets of her trade, including proven ways to:

  • Find and enter the best network "ecosystem" to meet your goals
  • Reach even the most unreachable people quickly and effectively
  • Get anyone's contact information within 30 seconds
  • Create a "3-D connection" that adds value to multiple people at the same time
  • Access key influencers through industry and community events
  • Subtly seed conversation with information about interests and needs
  • Use social media to your best advantage

Robinett has based her methods on solid researchproving that social groups begin to break up when they become larger than 150 people, and that 50 members is the optimal size for group communication. As such, she has developed what she calls the "5+50+100" method: contact your top 5 connections daily, your Key 50 weekly, and your Vital 100 monthly. This is your power grid, and it will work wonders for your career. Nothing will stop you when you learn How to Be a Power Connector.

Useful yet might not be universally applicable

Until I heard How to Be a Power Connector by Judy Robinett, had no idea that networking can be planned and implemented so strategically. Judy Robinett's advise, suggestions and tips all seem pretty useful. However, I, for one, am not sure if this can be universally applied to everyone.

I have heard of some instances of people getting recruited in good and high positions in fortune 500 companies with the help of power comnecting and then getting fired after a few years. While I know that this doesn't apply to everyone, being biased in networking and connecting seems somewhat more common than not. I personally think a person's skills and capabilities will still take a person places no matter how hard and put a person in right connections and networks eventually just like the case of Judy Robinett herself. So even if power connecting can help a person, it can only go so far without the right set of skills.

Also, power connecting does take time and probably a lot of time in case of some people. For people with families, professions that needs a lot a of focus and responsibilities, it might be very difficult to power connect as intensely as narrated in this audio book specially when people want to divide time earnestly to balance the personal life and the professional life. It just feels like it might not be as simple as it seems.

Overall, this is a nice audio book with a lot of nice planning, strategies and tips to improve power connecting. It is certainly worthwhile. Nice narration by Dina Pearlman. Listening to this audio book has be interesting and somewhat insightful.

Highly Recommended

When it comes to Networking 101, Judy takes the cake. She clearly laid everything out that it could be a textbook for a course on networking and building relationships. I think more people and organizations need to incorporate everything Judy talks about in her book.

Wealth of information

Wow this book was packed to the gills with good information. I feel inspired by this simple concept, even though the map she lays out is complex.

The golden book for networking and building relationships

This book outlines how to create value other peoples lives and how to create value in your own life through building powerful connections with other people. She outlines some incredible tips on how to establish trust, like ability and value to other people. She has a really great system, 5+50+100 Rule to apply to how many people you should have in your network and how close they should be to you and how often you should keep in touch with them. This is an incredible read, and Judy is a very inspiring individual.

Usable & Straightfoward Networking Insights

A perfect commuter book. Listen to this book in small chunks so you can digest and apply the principals in each chapter. To succeed in business you must know how to extend your network effectively both in person and on the internet. Many avenues exist to show you how to increase the number of internet contacts. This is the first book which shows you how to connect effectively and robustly. Numbers talk, I landed the largest single client for 2018, when I was only 2/3rds of the way through the book. Now, I use the Judy's tools everyday. The best part is I enjoy the relationships I make with those in my network.

Great book for learning what to do to grow your network

There a bunch of bullet points that I took away on what to do and how to approach people when at a conference.
A strong network takes you a lot farther than when you try to accomplish something on your own.
