Publisher's summary

An intensely emotional and gripping companion novel to Laura Nowlin's USA Today and New York Times bestselling novel If He Had Been With Me about the love that both breaks and heals us. Perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover and Jenny Han.

If only I'd told her that I loved her years ago, then I wouldn't be here now.

Finn has always loved Autumn. She's not just the girl next door or his mother's best friend's daughter, she is his everything. But she's not his girlfriend. That's Sylvie, and Finn would never hurt her, so there's no way Autumn could know how he truly feels.

Jack, Finn's best friend, isn't so sure. He's seen Finn and Autumn together. How could she not know? And how is he supposed to support and protect Finn when heartache seems inevitable?

Autumn surrounds herself with books and wants to write her own destiny—but one doesn't always get a new chapter and fate can be cruel to those in love.

Told through three different perspectives, If Only I Had Told Her is a love story brimming with truth, tragedy, and the unexpected bonds that heal us.

the dealings of life and death

ironically, when I chose the book I read the first one. I was looking for something g cheesy and romantic, cause I am dealing with my own grief. My mother died April 15 and my grandson died from SIDS May 1st. This book touched on what I'm feeling or what I was trying to escape. I am grateful this book found me when It did

Eloquently written and heart wrenching yet hopeful all in one!

Eloquently written and the grieving process for each character. WOW. I couldn’t stop crying, I related so much in a way; I’m floored with the writing, the way it all ebbed and flowed, and how each character has grown to be a part of my heart, and I’m so grateful the author pursued writing this book. THANK YOU. It all came at a time where I’ve been grieving someone so close to me so the aftermath of it all felt so real, so tangible! I am currently crying, but grateful I get to read such a wonderful, thought out, and beautiful work.

I got closure I guess.

I missed the characters, I like the way it gave us Phinneas POV and enjoyed the emotions of his closest friends. I cried a lot too. Because I’m nosey, I want more of their lives, but I guess it’s enough for closure… I just hate saying goodbye to characters in a book.

This tugs the heart strings

Surprisingly emotional and touching. Good performances, but I think the three narratives should've been read by three readers instead of two. The story sucks you in... There were only a few times when it was obvious that the author was female speaking through a male perspective. A solid recommend and excellent follow up... I want to keep visiting these characters and see how things play out in their lives

A great companion novel

I love this book, it was a great companion to the original book. I do wish that Finny’s section has be longer but otherwise a great title.

The ache

The ache of a heartbreak. FInny’s part broke me; his last few moments with Autumn. Jack’s part obliterated me completely. The way he felt was so real because I’ve been through all those feelings. I love that Autumn matured through this. Overall this book was the closure we needed.

I miss Finn

I enjoyed the point of view of Finn. it wasn't as nearly as sad as the first one, but it was so nice to give Finn a proper goodbye.

Not a bad book, just a tragic story

I mean. I guess I thought this was going to be from where last book started until the end but in his point of view. It started at the end just before the tragedy and I think that is what truly classifies this as a sequel. The author does a good job of showing grief specially from Jack. I felt mostly sad throughout autumn's portion. The only part I felt was bad writing was Finns. I know since it was only a part of this book the author was limited to show us the way Finn thinks, but he really just came off as obsessive and one dimensional which felt unfair to the character that was built up the first book. All of the waking moments with him were about her and I know it's supposed to describe how much he loved her, but it just came off as too intense for just love. So I wish he had been given more sustenance to his character but oh well. I found myself hating Autumn at times from Jack's point of view but in the end I think I waa just relieved she'd live and have his kid. Not much else to say to this story, read if if you really want to know what goes on in these characters minds but be warned it's truly depressing majority of the book.
