Audie Award Nominee, Best Teens Category, 2013

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.

Great book and a great last chapter

Wish that the books ending was a bit more flushed out, but overall a great read

What happened in editing?

Great books, I love everything about them and the narrator is very talented and perfect for reading these books, however, there is one line that he reads in the voice of Orik when it should've been in the voice of Orrin. It throws the listener off and is very distracting from the story. Fix this please.

Pretty good conclusion

Would you listen to Inheritance again? Why?

I might. In fact, I just listened to it for the second time, in part because I initially forgot I had listened to it before.

What about Gerard Doyle’s performance did you like?

He did a pretty good job, even considering the range of voices to do

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, it was good, but neither great nor poor.

Any additional comments?

I didn't feel the book was as bad as some reviewers suggest. Yes, he could use an editor that forced him to "tighten things up" a bit, but he's FAR, FAR better (in that sense) than, say, Robert Jordan. He occasionally dwelled on things of little relevance, but it wasn't for entire books at a time.

The only thing I thought was a bit crazy was the whole maudlin "farewell tour" in the epilogue. I like a good epilogue (I had to write my own because the one at the end of Harry Potter 7 was unsatisfactory), but this was just silly.

Also, the whole "where do the dragons" go decision seemed a bit odd -- certainly there are other solutions.

Just what we expected

When my family latches on to a series we all like, it's a very fun time. We spend a lot of time chatting, emailing, texting and when each and every chapter has been thoroughly exhausted, we start predicting what's going to happen in the next book.

Aragon and Saphira have been part of our family for the last decade. But this last book has left us with very little to talk about. Christopher Paolini seems to have left the excitement and spontaneity behind and chosen a safer, more predictable path.

fantastic

the cliff hanger is killing me. If Paolini ever reads reviews I would hope to tempt him into a bargain. Instead of solely working on "other" projects I would like him to consider alternating between Alagaësia and whatever strikes his fancy

AMAZING!

Would you listen to Inheritance again? Why?

Yes from the beginning of the series

What did you like best about this story?

How the author used truth as a powerful weapon to defeat evil!

Which character – as performed by Gerard Doyle – was your favorite?

Murtagh

Any additional comments?

Best of series and Gerald Doyle was great. The one disappointment was Doyle changed Hrothgar's voice? It was perfect in the first 3 books. As an audio book fanatic, I noticed it right away.

Happy until I wasn’t

I have gotten very used to the character voice choices and the ending as a whole was tremendous. The ending was heavily influenced by Tolkien to the point that I lamented the protagonist’s situation. Nevertheless, the series is worth the read for those into fantasy. It’s a great big world.

Enjoyed the series. Bitter sweet to have it over.

The performance was excellent as always. I will miss the characters very much. It was nice that the final book was so long since I wanted to know how the story ended but I didn't really want it to be over.

However, SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! Can I please just read a story that has a happy ending! Not a bitter sweet ending but an ending that is optimally happy all around. Maybe that is lame in the literary world (it seems to be anyway) but I don't care! I wish the story had ended on a full happy note where everything comes together as everyone would have liked but alas it was a decent ending anyway. I will miss this series greatly.

How does he do the voices of the dragons???? Amazing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Ending of the series was well done

Any additional comments?

I got hooked at the first book and read all the way through. Looking forward to more by this author.
