About this listen

In this “brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go, long after you’ve finished it” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of All Your Perfects, a workaholic with a too-good-to-be-true romance can’t stop thinking about her first love.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is “a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. The kind of book that gets handed down” (USA TODAY).

OH MY HEART...THIS BOOK WAS BRUTAL!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of It Ends with Us to be better than the print version?

It always is, but I only listened!

What other book might you compare It Ends with Us to and why?

I just cant compare it..this was a hard book..

What does Olivia Song bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was perfect...and I would totally listen to her again!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

So many moments...But when Alysa says she loves her and if she goes back to her brother she would be angry...I knew she was a great friend..and I clapped!!

Any additional comments?

Oh God...I feel like I have been beat up myself...this book ripped my heart out..and semi put it back together...Lily was brought up in an abusive home...her father was a real S O B...he beat and abused her mother, and even hit Lily once...it was horrible...and her mom stayed...covered things up...lied...Lily has a kind heart and she notices someone in the abandoned house behind hers.she begins to watch and sees Atlas...he is also from an abusive home and his mom basically kicked him out...Lily starts helping him...and they develop a beautiful friendship..but he has to go away...and he ends up in the military and they lose track of each other after a fateful last visit on her 16th birthday..that goes horribly wrong...

Lily moves to Boston...she just so happens to meet Ryle on the night of her fathers funeral...they talk and dont think they will see each other again...well when Lily opens her dream of a flower shop...she meets his sister Alysa...and they become fast friends...which opens the door for Ryle...Ryle seems perfect..he is a doctor, handsome..educated...Lily falls hard...they go to dinner with her mom one night..and there he is..ATLAS! Oh it is intense...well Atlas owns this new restaurant...and still adores Lily...But she is with Ryle...things get very shady with Ryle...he has a bad temper..he hurts her...she is afraid to tell anyone...but it just gets worse and Atlas does come to her rescue...but things are really messy when we are adults....and are not always black or white...there is always a lot of grey...In the end..I was so proud of Lily...she is special and has the most beautiful heart...and I am happy for her!!

I cried alot during this book...and was so angry..I knew fro the beginning not to trust Ryle...and maybe people do change...but he did not deserve Lily..and I am glad things wrapped up the way they did!! This is a good story..very real..and I hope it has helped some people..because I do believe that it is what was intended for it!!

Beautifully Frustrating

I listened to this in one day. I could not put it down. The characters and plot were incredibly engrossing. At times, I wanted to throw my phone bc of the situations faced. Words aren't enough. A must read!

She did it Again

Naked truth?....... There is not one reason..... you shouldn't read this book. Extremely heart wrenching!!!!! Sighhhh, Colleen Hoover did it again; by far, the best book I have read in a very long time. A lot of authors start off great, but after their 2d book, the quality significantly decreases (which pisses me off because I end up feeling bereft and jilted). This is not the case with Colleen Hoover's books. She ALWAYS produces stellar works; Colleen Hoover, is the standard.  I love Lilly, Ryle, Atlas, and all the other characters. I love the book from beginning to end. I love the love they all had for each other and the maturity displayed, throughout (I know….I’m “loving” way too much but I can’t help myself, there is no reason to). There were several occasions I felt Lilly should have chosen differently but there were also times I felt she did the right thing. I had to convince myself, no matter how much he tried, he just wouldn’t have change.  I wouldn’t have changed anything about each and every word written. In the end, I still love Ryle, Lilly, and Atlas (one last sigh).  I do however, have one request…….. please, oh please, oh pleaseeeeee Ms. Hoover, let there be a book two

Beautiful and captures the complexity of the survivor experience.

This story does an amazing job sharing a love story and getting real about the challenges that survivors of domestic violence face. I am a survivor of witnessing domestic violence as a child. I also now work as a Victim Advocate for victims of domestic violence. Honestly, had I known the story line was going to include D.V., I probably would not have read this, but I am glad that I did. All of the characters were lovable and engaging. There were times where I did laugh out loud. I won't spoil the book so I can't share all of it. The author also included a note at the end that I thought was responsible and helpful

WOW!!!!! Just WOW!!!

Colleen Hoover has written one of the best fictional stories I have read to date.
This is one book that definitely lives up to the hype surrounding it. Colleen Hoover is an auto download for me ... but this book is way beyond anything she has written to date! This book was, by her own admission, very personal for Hoover and it shows as Lily's story unfolds.

The story begins with Lily, an adult living in Boston, reliving the funeral of her father. No spoilers here, but what an impact! Her story is told in the present, but insight into what shaped her is used as she reflects upon her past via journals. Atlas was her first love and Ryle is the man she is head over heels for and plans her future with.

Nothing goes as planned in life, of course, and the ups and downs of life begin to impact Lily in ways she did not expect to endure. As she begins to experience her own setbacks, she finds a renewed appreciation for her mother and finds that sometimes the past impacts and can be repeated in the future.

The performance was outstanding .... the story is one of the most well written and interesting stories I have read/listened to in years. DEFINITELY worth a credit or purchase. This book is my favorite of all the books Hoover has written to date. Bravo!

Colleen. Omg. The best.

It's just hard to beat any Colleen Hoover book. Her characters are so real you keep thinking about them days, sometimes weeks after you finish the book. I've loved every one of her books, but this was probably my favorite. Intense, but sweet. Truly an emotional experience as an audiobook. Narrator brought it to life. So sad it's over!

Wonderful!!!

This book was a really nice surprise! I didn't go into with any expectations and was wonderfully surprised on how much I enjoyed it. I have listened to over 700 books and this is definitely one of my top ten favorites. I have never listened or read any other books by this author but definitely will in the future. If you like a book where you feel you get to know the characters and you get emotionally involved this is he perfect choice!

CoHo Strikes Again!

If you could sum up It Ends with Us in three words, what would they be?

Heartbreaking, Strong, Beautiful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of It Ends with Us?

Seeing the growth of Lily and her feelings on abuse.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Lily and Atlas see each other on the sidewalk when she is meeting Ryle to drop off the baby. When she walks away and looks back and he is still watching her... Sigh.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many, but one of them is actually in the end in the Authors comments where Colleen talks about how she admired her mom for all that she went through with her Father and how she never spoke badly about him because she wanted her kids to love the good in their Father.

Any additional comments?

I have not read a Colleen Hoover book that didn't change me in some way. This book did not disappoint. I feel like I understand what goes on in the mind of someone that is being abused and why they don't always have the strength to leave. I know this book must have been so hard for her to write but I think this book will reach many and might even save many. ♥
