About this listen

The Fool has been hunted. But he must become the hunter.

Accompanying an expedition of wizards, Alex has proved himself against the dangers of Greymoor, calling upon summoned servants to defeat the Ravener’s hunters. But with the death of his pursuers, no answers are apparent, only more questions.

And now Alex, the Heroes, his cabal, and the mighty Baelin seek answers in the ancient Crymlyn swamp, which the Sage of Thameland calls home.

But other eyes also watch the Crymlyn. Evil eyes. Demonic eyes.

And the Ravener is far from done with Alex.

For it has yet to call upon its more powerful servants....

Book five of the best-selling series. Continue your fantastical journey into a coming of age magic academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, deepening mystery, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

starting to unravel.

I love this series and only ever have a few gripes about each book which is not a big deal and usually subjective and doesn't ruin it for me at all. But I think we're getting to the point where things are staring to unravel and frustrating things everyone would see. There's some pretty serious glaring holes in this one that you can't help but notice. it's like the author wants you to forget previous books along with characters growth. My two biggest issues were the fact that Alex is straight up fighting with 3 of the heroes now and still no one seems to put it together this guy isn't really fighting. he's winging potions like waterballoons and letting his golem and everyone else fight. one of the heros starts to put it together but of course we won't figure out anything for at least another book. The other huge thing is the fight at end. without giving anything else away it just seems like everyone is incompetent but our MCs. Not only that how the heck is there no sort of emergency button that would call their strongest wizard to help? You've already shown he can be contacted easily enigh in prior books and earlier in this one. People are dying come on now. I could go deeper in this part alone but it'll drive me nuts.

Perfect Pace

I’ve enjoyed this entire series but this book may be my favorite. I know it’s hard to produce a great sequel but Clarke did a masterful job with this one. It was gripping from the beginning to the end.

Loving it still. Definitely give the series a chance

Always new developments in the story, and great characters. I'm always waiting for the next book so I can see what's going to happen. the narrator is one of my favorites too.

Great continuation of story

I enjoyed where the story went and is going. The characters continue to get more complex and it adds to their likability. That doesn’t always happen. Sorry but the little sister continues to be annoying. That’s the only negative part of the whole series. She acts like a toddler but is supposed to be late elementary school age. Again sorry, but I can’t be the only one that thinks that. This one had me hooked, couldn’t stop listening. As usual, Travis is outstanding. He’s reached John Lee/RC Bray level with his character voices and delivery. Thanks for a great book. Hope book 6 is right around the corner.

Book 4 left me feeling uncertain if I would continue the series, but after finishing 5, I am excited again.
