Choden: Formally a monk for seven years within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Choden (aka Sean McGovern) completed a three year, three month retreat in 1997 and has been a practicing Buddhist since 1985. He is originally from South Africa where he trained as a lawyer and where he learned meditation under the guidance of Rob Nairn, an internationally renowned Buddhist teacher. He is now involved in developing secular mindfulness and compassion programmes drawing upon the wisdom and methods of the Buddhist tradition, as well as contemporary insights from psychology and neuroscience. He is an honorary fellow of the University of Aberdeen and teaches on their Postgraduate Study Programme in Mindfulness (MSc) that is the first of its kind to include compassion in its curriculum. He lives on the Isle of Arran.

Good instruction in Mindfullness

This book had some meditation instruction which has been very helpful. It was really simple things like sending loving kindness to a difficult person is not endorsing their behavior. I loved the writing style. It felt very clear throughout.

Train your brain to live a more fulfilling lift

Your brains need to train its consciousness in order to enhance your experience of your life and live a more fulfilling life and take in the life as it is.
This is done with mindfulness and self-compassion training. It will help you to promote the self soothing system instead of the amygdala’s fight or fight system.. ( a very simple explanation of a very good book - you have to read to you self)

I loved the book it was very helpful & great tips.

This book had great tips on new ways to look at things And the narrator had a very calming voice

The content is so dry and it’s hard to stay paying attention

I picked the book based on a recommendation that it was good. I pushed through 3/4 of the book before finally giving up. The content is very dry and hard to stay tuned in.
