Publisher's summary

At 40, Lan Davis is looking for his damned picket fence and two point five kids. What he doesn't expect is instead of a wife in the picture, his mind keeps conjuring up images of two men. One, his partner in the force, who is as straight as they came, the other an ex, who he'd hurt but never forgot.

After an incident leaves Lan injured, the two men rally around him...only maybe they shouldn't have. It seems a medicated Lan is a truthful one.

Parker Wilding is pissed at the world. His anger builds when his partner refuses medical care after an attack. Instead, Lan entrusts his neighbor to take care of him - a guy Parker doesn't trust. While he's aware they share a history, when the past is revealed, the truth shocks the hell out of him.

Being emotionally crushed ten years ago, Easton Ravel hoped he would never have to see the man who broke him again. Hope is a fickle bitch. And now he's not sure how to handle being face-to-face with the man he once loved. Add in the mix the annoying, testy Parker, and Easton finds his limits are pushed.

Just not in the way he thought they would be.

What happens next sure does come out of the blue.

Contains mature themes.

Amazing

I’ve read this book several times and love it but listening to it brings it to a whole new level. Wow! A slow but oh so sweet burn. Ms. Lila Rose did an outstanding job bringing Lan, Parker, & Easton to life, and making you feel all the emotions each one is feeling. I was cheering them on the entire time. Narration is perfection!

Fantastic!

After a bad experience with Joel Leslie’s narration in the past, I almost didn’t give this one a shot. I am SO glad that I did. The story was so good. It had me laughing out loud. I loved every second of it, and couldn’t stop listening. This will definitely be one I listen to again.

Wowsers

Having already read this story I thought I would not be surprised but I was. There were many things I apparently forgot, like a serious lack of lube and how really horrible Lan was to an extremely young Easton. I also forgot that this was a double gay for you and not Parker finding out that he was bi. I mean he had a conversation and was told that sometimes you are gay for only one person, which was not great.

But what really got through was the relationship between these men. It was not a couple bringing in a third as Lan and Easton were apart for 10 years. This was three people organically growing into a triad.

The narration was good, I mean I added a star just because Joel made me cry during the epilogue, but this was a mmm and there were only two narrators. I think only having one would have been much better.

Takes a while to get started but worth it.

Easton has to be the most adorable and loveable character I've experienced in a book in a while.

His character was built up well and was complimented by his 2 love interests.

All 3 of these characters were really well done and oozed great character building throughout this story but Easton was definitely the standout for me and what made me want to keep going with this. His character lightened things up and really helped break up and resolve a lot of the tension in the romance. He was also funny and I chuckled a few times at some of his cuteness.

The start of the book was a little rocky. I wasn't sure the direction it was taking and if i particularly could get into it. Not sure why but something about the structure of the first few chapters didn't really sit well with me and I found the setup to the plot to be a little funky.

I kept going though and was blown away with where it ended up that I definitely could forgive the wonky start.

It took a little longer then I'd like to get spicy and get all 3 of these guys involved but It really just added to the tension and heat when it does finally happen. By the end the only part I was disappointed with is that there isn't more to these guys story. I would have loved to see this continue to develop between these 3.

The narrator choice was absolutely so spot on. Choosing Joel Leslie to voice Easton, a brit, was brilliant and totally fit tonally and differentiated him from the 2 other characters who were Australian and were more suited to a better voice actor to capture the dialect perfectly.

Delightful

A new author for me.
A new narrator in Antony Ferguson.
So glad I took the chance.

The story was well written.
The characters were compelling.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Australian phrases and POV. It’s just a smidge off from American, and I loved it. I’m a fan of different.
This story was different in the best of ways.

Sometimes intense, sometimes steamy, and yet I found myself laughing throughout. This book never took itself too seriously.

This title is a definite read/listen again, and I’ll be looking for more from Lila Rose.
