Publisher's summary

NOW AN APPLE ORIGINAL SERIES FROM APPLE TV+ STARRING JAKE GYLLENHAAL

From #1 New York Times bestselling author and hailed as the most suspenseful and compelling novel in decades, this story brings to life our worst nightmare: that of an ordinary citizen facing conviction for the most terrible of all crimes.

Rusty Sabich, family man and the number-two prosecutor of Kindle County, is handed an explosive case—the brutal murder of a woman who happens to be his former lover. A shocking turn of events suddenly transforms him from the accuser into the accused... and plunges him into a nightmare world where nothing seems real and no one can be PRESUMED INNOCENT.

It's the stunning portrayal of one man's all-too-human, all-consuming fatal attraction for a passionate woman who is not his wife, and the story of how his obsession puts everything he loves and values on trial—including his own life. It's a book that lays bare a shocking world of betrayal and murder, as well as the hidden depths of the human heart. And it will hold you and haunt you...long after you have reached its shattering conclusion.

Love

Loved this book for all the rich details. I love that I figured out the killer before it was announced. Made me feel involved

Great listen. I'll get the second book.

If you could sum up Presumed Innocent in three words, what would they be?

Tense, unexpected end.

What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Probably nothing. I have a good imagination.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the real murderer was revealed.

Slow start but way worth the wait

I started listening to this and after 8 chapters I thought “HM can I get through this or did I make a mistake? “ After chapter 12 or so it was interesting and after about chapter 16 it really took off for me. The building of the characters in the first dozen chapters was necessary and the story ends up fabulous. I can’t wait to get my next Turow book!

Edward Hermann was an outstanding narrator

The story in itself was very good. It was, however, the performance of Edward Hermann that I enjoyed the most. Each character was delivered in such an amazing way, with the perfect emotion. Glad to have discovered his talent!

I'm guessing the author was paid by the word.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Wordy. Verbose. Long winded. tedious. Rhetorical. Windy. Rambling. This author spent way too much time writing with 50 words that which could have been done with 10. At times the book moved along, but most of the time, I tuned out while listening because of the incessant wordiness of it all.

Presumed Innocent. . .

So I see that they made this a show and figured I would listen to the book before venturing into the apple tv show. This audible book was very enjoyable in the beginning and really got taken off my feet to start with. I love trial novels here lately, but I felt that the case was weak, contradicted itself and is VERY Obvious from the start. Cut and dry but it didn't stick the landing

forgot how good this was

I re-read this in preparation to read his new sequel. Read it last when it first came out - totally forgot that this man can really write. Even knowing the ending, I was absolutely riveted. He turns a beautiful phrase and really has characters you feel you know. Wonderful narration too. You won't be disappointed.
