Great contemporary mpreg, loved John Solo

I was very pleasantly surprised with this story! I loved the characters, I loved the story, the romance, and the pace of things.

Phoenix is an omega who had a horrible falling out with his family at a young age. Since then, he has built a name for himself with his company, he is raising his daughter as a single parent from his first mating, and is basically living life for his daughter, Jasmine, at the start of this story. He starts receiving threatening letters, and when they start to include Jasmine, he knows that he has to do something.

Lucius is an alpha, ex-military, and runs his own private security company. He gets a call asking to please help Phoenix out, and when they first meet - BOOM - they realize they are mates. I love that they took their time with the mating, they didn't just jump into bed a scene later. Lucius took his time to woo Phoenix, to get to know each other, and for Jasmine to be comfortable.

I loved these two - Phoenix is a strong, independent omega, which I loved. And Lucius is patient, caring, gives forehead kisses, and is just perfect for Phoenix, who deserves a mating with love this time around. When the two finally do cement their bond, it's sexy, sweet, and perfect.

I don't want to give away any spoilers as far as the whole stalking storyline goes, but I was definitely surprised. It seemed a little bit...over the top? But it both was who I thought it was - and not. There was a bit of telling, rather than showing, at the beginning of the story as far as giving a ton of exposition and backstory. Other than that, I really enjoyed this story of Lucius and Phoenix.

Also, great narrating from John Solo! His voices were perfect for these two and it was a fun listen!

I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

MMy Thoughts and Review:

Protecting His Omega was a good read, with a decent pace, and cast. I enjoyed the way the author presented Alpha/ Beta/ Omega dynamics and their relationship values in society. I also liked that the main MC in this story was a very successful Omega who didn't need to rely on an Alpha or Beta. At least he didn't until the life of his young daughter was threatened.

The book has mystery and a bit of danger, a sinfully sMMexy Alpha who helps keep the omega and his daughter safe. A sweet little girl the Alpha nicknames, "Princess Jasmine," and a twist that you THINK you see coming, but you really don't! I liked that! 😍

While this isn't necessarily a holiday themed book, it does take place before, during, and after Christmas. It wasn't smothered in Holiday Flare, so if you are a Grinch, like me, you will be thankful of that. 😂

Narration: 4.50🌟

Protecting His Omega is an Omegaverse Romance by Giovanna Reaves. This story has a mystery to solve, suspense and danger... it also delivers on romance. I love Phoenix and Lucius together and enjoyed this story.

good with just a few issues

I liked Phoenix and lucien's story, they was both well written and performed. The only ones I had an issue with was pheonix's family, while there was potential there I couldn't understand some of their motives or explanations.

Sweet story with a twist

I haven't read or listened to books by this author before but will be looking up more to read. I really enjoy listening to John Solo and that's what first caught my eye about this audiobook.

I thought this was a good story about a non-typical omega raising his daughter in a high-profile environment. When his daughter is threatened, I was able to figure out pretty quickly who was doing it but how it came about was a twist I wasn't expecting, nor was it something found in other books.

I look forward to other books by Giovanna and hope they are as easy to listen to as this one.

Protecting His Omega

This book was great and A Lot better than I was anticipating. I was thoroughly entertained during the entire book and narration of the story. There was a good amount of action and intrigue and twists and turns along with some romance and hot sexy times between the two main characters Omega Phoenix and Alpha Lucius. The writing along with the storyline flowed really well together at a good pace. I’m really glad that the author Giovanna Reaves didn’t just throw these two men Alpha/Omega into bed together right away and that we got an actual plot, dialogue and communication between the two of them first. It made me like the story a lot more, insta-love would not have worked with this one for me so I’m happy the author didn’t go that route. Oh man, and I NEVER saw that ending coming. I was trying to guess the entire book on who the “bad guy” actually was and my answer changed a bunch of times. When you can’t obviously figure out who it is from the start and your answer keeps changing because there are so many twists, that’s when you know you have a good book because it keeps you completely immersed in the story. You HAVE to know what happens next and how it all ends. It’s been a while since I’ve actually been surprised by the ending of a book, and this one definitely surprised me.

~The Parents – They were the obvious choice for me to dislike and point my finger at when things started going wrong, because of what they did in the past, and how horrible they acted when they realized Phoenix was a gay omega, people who act like that should not parents.
~The Brother – He was weird and kept disappearing and showing back up at different times, changing his story all around. And I thought it was odd that he randomly showed back up in Phoenix’s life after so much time and not really explaining his side of the reasoning to what their parents did and why he didn’t stick up for Phoenix.
~The Vice Pres. of the company – Well now, he is another choice high on the list of suspects for me, mainly because he’s a jerk who obviously wants Phoenix away from the company even though Phoenix has totally proven himself to be competent at what he does.
~The I.T./Security Guy – He had access to the computers/cameras and email system so it would have been pretty easy and convenient for him to do some stalking and make some bad decisions.
~The Assistant – Again, she also had access to computers and email, so it would have been easy for her with the personal access she had directly to Phoenix, but I wasn’t quite sure what her motive behind it would be.
~The Cops – Cops are always a suspect, and “the man” can always be out to get you… lol. But there was some concerns I had with what happened to Phoenix’s deceased mate and how he died which led me to believe it could have been an inside type job with the police involved.
~The Random – When you’re rich and/or famous it could always be some random crazy that comes out of the woodwork to cause harm, so this option is not off the table as far as suspects go.

You will NEVER guess the ending, who did it, and the reasoning behind why…. So, in my opinion this book was really great, it has everything you look for in a romance book with a mystery twist and it hits all the marks.

Audio – John Solo was a great pick as a narrator for this book. He always does a great job with the Alpha/Omega type books, and this one was no different. I really appreciate his dedication to making sure the audiobooks he makes have a good amount of emotion and effort put into them. He really pulls us into this story with his voices for all of these characters. Great job and I really liked the narration for this book, I’m sure I will be listening to this one again and would highly recommend this book to others.

Great story, great audiobook

I'm a audiobook newbie and I admit I wasn't too sure I was going to like them. It took a bit to get used to having the story read to me instead of reading it myself. Once I got used to it, I started to enjoy it. I read this story before and loved it, the audiobook version made me experience the story in a different way. I listened on my way to work and wow, I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed starting my day with this audiobook. John Solo does a fabulous job with the various voices and they matched how I thought the characters should sound. The wrong voice actor could have ruined the story. I am hoping this universe continues, maybe with Hugo and one of Luc's brothers? I can hope! Giovanna and John sure got this newbie wanting more audiobooks!
