A good start

This is a quick listen but a very good start to the series and an introduction to the Bailey family.

Must read and listen

This is my favorite series so I had to give them a try in audio and wow am I so glad I did, Asher and Grace will forever be my favorite and listening to them brought a new love for them. The narrators did a phenomenal job of capturing all the emotion in this book. Off to finish the duet with Fighting For Us and I can’t wait. Perfection!!

What a great way to start a series!

I read the kindle version before listening to the audio and I can say I love to hear the voices of the characters and the beginning of Asher and Graces story. Claire introduces us to the Baileys and how Asher and Grace gets together, and unfortunately, apart. The story is done with heart and humor, and also with sensitivity regarding to what Grace’s go through. Amazing work by Claire. And I can’t wait to listen to the next Bailey’s brothers books!

Loved this first book in the series!

This is the first book in Claire Kingley's Bailey Brothers series, and it is absolutely fantastic. Please know that this is the first in a duet, coupled with Fighting For Us. These first two books follow the life-long love story of Asher Bailey and Grace Miles, from childhood friends to friends denying their feelings to college loves. It does not end happily - the happily ever after comes at the end of Fighting for Us. Both books together create such an amazing, emotional, heartbreaking story of enduring love, finding your soulmate young, and fighting to make it work when it seems like hope is lost. But while there is definitely angst and drama, there is also so much heartwarming family antics and humor at times, too, and the duet has great balance.

Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cook do a fantastic job bringing Claire Kingsley's words and character to life. I loved their presence, their emotional range and how they made Asher and Bailey feel so real for me. Their journey was not an easy one, and the way that Aaron and Samantha handled the material felt really gentle and genuine to me. I really loved it.

So beautiful… so heartbreakingly beautiful.

This is an origin story, the background before the main book. It was done so beautifully. Claire wrote a captivating young love story which was interrupted in heartbreaking fashion. “Knowing” Grace through the five Miles Series books, the story hits even harder. There is a cliffhanger, but not in the way some books leave you. This one has an ending, an end to their first act. Just not the HEA we want. That will come next. This story helps connect you to the characters of the series. All of them, not just Asher and Grace. I cannot wait to hear more about Grace’s family, the Bailey Boys and Grams. I think any avid reader loves the connections to the chartacters, and while you may not get the whole love story you want from this book by itself, the connection to everyone in it will make your heart burst and ache at the same time!! Beautiful, thank you for this story!!

The narration of this story felt so real, like a young couple falling in love. It added so much extra to this one. Excellent!

I enjoyed this book

I thought this book was great but was disappointed at the end to find out it wasn’t over. Now i need to listen to the next book, I guess, to hear the end. I think the book could have been completed in one book .

Protecting you sets the foundation for new series and is the story of young love that will have to overcome a heartbreaking adversity. We have met Grace previously in the Miles family series when she found her half siblings; and while it is not necessary to start with the Miles family, I would certainly recommend those amazing books.
In Protecting You we get a glimpse into Grace’s and Asher’s younger years and see the evolution of their childhood friendship into young love.
We get introductions to the five Bailey brothers, their Gram and learn about their upbringing; as well as their and Grace’s families dynamics and circumstances.
Claire Kingsley has an extraordinary gift for story telling; and Protecting You is an exciting promise for what’s to come. I can’t wait to see Grace’s and Asher’s love story to continue and look forward to visiting with old friends from Salishan Cellars; as well as getting to know a new cast of characters in the Bailey Brothers series.
