Publisher's summary

It's no coincidence when Grace Elland finds a vodka bottle next to the lifeless body of her boss, motivational speaker Sprague Witherspoon. The bottle is a terrifying - and deliberate - reminder of the horrors of her past. Grace retreats to her hometown to regroup and tries to put everything she's learned about positive thinking into practice - a process that is seriously challenged on the world's worst blind date. Awkward doesn't begin to describe her evening with venture-capitalist Julius Arkwright. She has nothing in common with a man who lives to make money, but the intense former Marine does have some skills that Grace can use - and he's the perfect man to help her when it becomes clear she is being stalked. As Witherspoon's financial empire continues to crumble around them, taking a deadly toll, Julius will help Grace step into her past to uncover a devious plan to destroy not only Grace, but everyone around her.

Wonderful Performance

This performance by Amanda Cobb was bright, pleasant, and motivating! Her male characters were identifiable by emotional tone, rather than a disturbingly low forced female voice. I appreciate that! This was a joy to listen to!

Cute little murder mystery

I'm writing this review because I want to refute other reviews that dissed the narrator. I almost didn't buy this book because of the negative comments but it was a daily deal and I had nothing left to read and no credits. I'm glad I took the flyer.

First, the narrator does a perfectly fine job and she fits well with a lighthearted mystery/romance genre. This is not a deep serious or overly complex story. If you are looking for that or for groundbreaking originality this is not your book anyway.

Second, someone complained about the dialog saying "do people really talk like that?" So I was expecting really stilted or dry dialog. Once again, the dialog fit the genre. And yes, people do talk like this though probably with a few more umms or ahhhs or half finished thoughts. Or swearing. And a few times I cringed just a little but I've unfortunately come across much much worse.

Bottom line, if you want a mystery to listen to on a long drive that doesn't require you to absorb every detail or risk being lost, this is a decent audiobook. It's like the Applebee's of books - a bit more upscale than McDonald's but by no means a chic one of a kind culinary establishment.

Very good book....glad to see her switch gears!

I am glad I took the chance and got this book. I have really grown tired of the Arcane series and to an extent the Rainshadow series. This book is a complete standalone - straight romantic-suspense. Loved it!

Trust No One, not even the author, to surprise you

I listen to audio books all day while I work, so I'm always looking for new material, and I enjoy a wide range of genres, including historical fiction, science, history, romance, and mystery most often. I have liked other novels from Jane Ann Krentz, (especially the Arcane series) so when this came up for daily deal, I picked it up. And was sadly bored for the entire novel. The narrator was not bad, but she wasn't especially good either. She delivered every line as though she might have been giving a very good reading of the phone book. No inflection, no change in delivery during suspenseful or tense moments. She sounded exactly the same when the main character was packing a picnic breakfast, as she did when the character was fighting for her life, or having sex.

The novels title suggests that we should worry about just about everyone having a hidden agenda. As if we will be surprised who is behind it all. And yet the culprits were obvious from the start, and continued to be glaringly obvious throughout the novel. I was really hoping there might be another twist after everything was cleared up, but no. Just a very boring, very unconvincing happily ever after. The characters were flat, and displayed no actual chemistry with one another. The plot was predicable and boring. It gave me something to listen to while working, but was a completely forgettable novel that I'll never bother listening to again.

Trust No One

Once again, Krentz has written a complicated plot and then, pulled it all together well!

Trust No One

The narrator skillfully differentiated among characters and captured the emotional essence of each scene. Her ability to bring to life such characters as the aloof Millicent, the gruff old Harley, and the angry young Nila draws the listener quickly into the plot - a credit to Ms. Cobb's talent! Bravo!

More like a Lifetime TV Drama

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I broke on and off for months listening to this book. Adequate time being that I've been extremely busy lately. Enticing title but a little predictable and dry.

Would you recommend Trust No One to your friends? Why or why not?

Nope, too much drama and no suspense being that a major crime happened in the story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Her Masculine voice were just a tab too low, needed a stronger tone to spark the fire into the romantic scenes

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, I don't care too much about drama

Any additional comments?

It was just ok

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The narration of the book was lacking. The main female character came off as really whinny. I don't know if it was the narrators voice or the way she was reading it, but it left me disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I love Mrs Krentz books, this one just didn't hit the mark.

Classic JAK

Loved it! JAK writes such great military vets. Both MCs were likeable and the mystery was interesting.
