Publisher's summary

Listen introduces parents to five simple, practical skills even the most harried parent can use. These tools will help parents strengthen their connection with their child and help build their child's intelligence, cooperation, and ability to learn as they grow. The audiobook delivers detailed information, accompanied by more than 100 real-life stories from parents who've used this approach to address the root causes of their child's difficult behaviors.

Five surprising things parents will learn:

  • You don't have to reward or punish willful children to get them to cooperate
  • Aggressive kids are frightened kids, and there are simple tools to ease their fear so they don't need to lash out
  • Your willingness to just listen to crying or tantrums, often is enough to heal a child's fears and hurts
  • Safe play during which your kid becomes the boss, can reveal his hidden feelings - and heal them too
  • Parents who regularly listen to one another's struggles, without judging or advising, often clear so much toxic emotion that their children benefit greatly

Great advice about children of all ages

Vital Adul conversation and Information about child development; well written and well performed. On par with Alice Miller's books, except more instructive.

Foundational

I have read a lot of excellent books on how to better understand emotions and communicate with our children, but in many ways I feel I could have started and ended with this book. The information is foundational and the presentation makes it so simple to understand and digest. Highly recommend.

The very best information on how to connect deeply and raise emotionally healthy children

There is nothing like Hand In Hand Parenting. Patty, the founder and also the reader of thisAudiobook is a wealth of simple yet profoundly powerful information on how to deal with a wide range of circumstances that most families encounter at one time or another. It’s a very human approach. It’s respectful, it’s realistic, it’s down to earth, it’s something you can start right away but also build on and deepen for a lifetime. I can’t recommend this book in this philosophy highly enough!

Gamechanging

I listened to this along with following the Peace and Parenting podcast - none if it was intuitive, none of it was especially easy at first but it has all worked! My family life has changed. I'm better bonded with my children, having more presence and fun and peace in my household, and am seeing them becoming the kinds of people I always hoped they would be. This has happened in about 2-3 months time! I wish all families knew about this approach, it would be a better world.
