Publisher's summary

Evergreen Short (Shawty) is a beautiful, passionate, and talented Howard University graduate/jazz singer from Detroit. The untimely death of her father brings her immediate plans of moving to New Orleans to a screeching halt. Adonias Wright (Savage) is a six-foot-six-inch chocolate man with a passion for fast money. His life in Chicago is halted, abruptly following the brutal and untimely death of his father. His new circumstances force him to move in with his uncle.

Taking a deep breath upon entering the church, Evergreen is greeted by a brash of people. All hugging her and welcoming her back home. Back home, those two words echoed loudly. Entering the sanctuary, she takes a seat on the second pew of the middle row. The choir rises to their feet and prepares to sing. It is at that moment that Evergreen's attention is drawn to the piano. There, sitting preparing to play the ivory keys, is the most beautiful specimen she has ever laid her eyes on. Well, maybe not ever but damn near close.

Evergreen takes an instant liking to Adonias from the moment she sees him sitting at the piano. Likewise, Adonias is stunned by the beauty and talent Evergreen possesses.

When a musical opportunity of a lifetime for Evergreen doesn’t work out, Adonias contacts a few people from his past and calls in some favors for her. With his focus on his own endeavors, Adonias doesn’t realize he is soon involved in an unexpected triangle of love, music, and dreams.

When their individual pasts threaten to come between them, Adonias realizes that he has to act fast to keep Evergreen in his life; but the question remains, will they ever find the magical love they both deserve?

SHORT BUT SWEET

I loved the story, the characters, the drama, the ending and the narration, great voice. The only negative is that it was wayyyy too short, hope there will be a sequel.

TERRIBLE

This was an audiobook.....Did an audiobook review take place? I have never listen to a book from this narrator...but, I wanted to try this book. BIG MISTAKE! He has a great voice with loads of potential....HOWEVER, he was unable to pronounce half the words in the book to include the main and secondary characters names within the book....Anyone knows that narration is everything! Especially for those of us that LOVE audiobooks....For people that really don't care for audiobook....this book would turn really solidify why they usually don't deal with audiobooks. The story and the characters were underdeveloped....this story lack content and luster...despite the fact that it was a novella.....We all know, novellas can pack a punch and provide you with an entire story....This one missed the mark.
