Publisher's summary
For five centuries, a witch's curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Ccile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.
Ccile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity. But something unexpected happens while she's waiting - she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods - part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.
As Ccile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer's daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Then, she stumbles in to my domain, lost and frightened, alone and confused. And I terrify her even more. She calls me the devil, so I show her pleasure, like only the devil can. seriously good book
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat, with the perfect amount of action, adventure, cleverness, and love. Cecile is a lovely character with strength and smarts. No dumb weak females anywhere in this book! Tristan! I cant say much about Tristan without spoiling the story, so I will just say he is a perfect opponent to go toe to toe with our spit fire Cecile. Dont pass this book up!

Highly recommend
At first the narrator’s pronunciation of names annoyed me. BUT I kept listening and couldn’t stop! After the third chapter or so she stops and the story really takes off. I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend it!

Amazing performance by the Narrators
This was an expertly narrated adventure. A true delight to listen to and I personally am excited to begin reading/listening to the next book!

Horrid narrator, marred a good story
What made the experience of listening to Stolen Songbird the most enjoyable?
Obviously, not the narrator. Ms. Moon had an uncomfortable monotone during some key events and sounded flippant during the main characters times of anguish. For instance, when she was badly wounded and apparently about to die, the narrator's voice came off as if the gal was on a picnic with friends. Voice never changed to allow the audience to experience the depth of main character's anguish and pain. Horrible. I've heard another book narrated by this individual and now have the good sense to just read the book myself and establish the character in my own mind.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Certainly not the main character. Geesh.
How could the performance have been better?
See first question...
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not especially, maybe if I had just read it instead that might have been a possibility.

An engaging story abominably narrated
I found the story itself to be interesting and engaging. The literary style felt like it was written by a fifth-grader, but I was willing to overlook that. I found myself engaged the whole time. However, there is one MAJOR problem -- the narration. Eric Summerer was just fine and had only a minor part, but my real gripe was with Erin Moon. 90% of her reading was fine, but she has a thing for pronouncing some words with a fake French accent that drove me up the wall. Seriously, why does she speak in an American accent for 99 words, then say one faux French word? It was like running over an animal on the freeway - it pulled me out of the story and grated on me to no end. Without that, the book would be a whole star higher in my rating, but as it stands, all I will remember about the book a year from now is Erin's grating narration.

LOVELY
Would you try another book from Danielle L. Jensen and/or Eric Michael Summerer and Erin Moon ?
Yes, because I lke the way she writes.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stolen Songbird?
I like the hidden plot we discover next of the end of the book. The elf's king is annoying, but very smart too.
Was Stolen Songbird worth the listening time?
Yes. The story is very light and sweet too.
Any additional comments?
A book ideal for YA, and to when you want just a book to distracted you.
