Publisher's summary

Contains all three books in The Augmented series: hours of aliens, war, and explosive space opera action!

Across thousands of planets in the Krey Empire, all humans have a single title...slave.

Born to oppression, Siena is an ordinary young woman, until an act of defiance leaves her scarred and marked as a rebel. She's sold to Ero, a fallen Krey with a desperate plan to redeem his once-powerful family. He intends to enhance slaves by altering their genetic code, increasing their value through an illegal experiment.

Reklin, a bone-armored soldier, hunts them both. His orders come from a mysterious source, but his loyalty to the Empire has no limits.

Noble, soldier, and slave, they are about to discover a dangerous truth–that humans can be augmented. But none can predict the abilities they'll unlock, or the rebellion they'll unleash.

great listen

couldn't tell you how much fun I had with this story.. only issue I have is how open ended it left me.. there should have been another book I have looked and looked and can find other book series in this world but this story seemed to be lost.. kinda sad but was definitely worth the listen

Amazing find!

For one credit, you get an epic 30h long adventure in a brand new universe. It's not exactly a hard sifi, but there's nothing that would make you stop listening.

For a mon native speaker, you will probably need a few hours to get used to unusual names, but once you do, you're golden.

Highly recommend!

PS Unfortunately, the third book is really bad. I ended up fast forwarding half of it.

great series!

I loved this series, and the narration was great too! With both male and female narrators, and a great story, it really brings the story to life. I would highly recommend it.

wow

Someone needs to make this entire book series into some tv series, I'm getting Mass Effect, and a little bit of every sci-fi movie that has touched on every single thing that is going on behind the scenes of today.

Interesting Story, Geared to a Younger Audience

I enjoyed the story, despite its somewhat juvenile orientation. Not hard science, but great premises and consistent throughout. Well worth the read, adventurous, and not predictable. If there is a continuation of the series, I will read.

I Didn't Expect It to be this Good

I bought this because it was an abundance of content for a single credit. usually that means the content is old and forgotten or mediocre. But this is a masterpiece.

Ben Hale has created a rich detailed universe with several different cultures, histories, and unique stand out races.

Each character stands out on their own. Most are likable even when their being dicks. In fact 1/2 way through I keep finding myself hoping that Erro continues his stalled character growth. He's at a crossroads and he really doesn't understand.

A lot of the plot is character driven. and the characters are phenomenal. I can tell by personality traits who's likely to be trustworthy and who isn't. The characters' goals match who and what they are, and in some cases those change following character growth.

The prose is good. it's descriptive and complex, but not needlessly so. The writing is artistic and pointed. It takes inspiration from the writing styles of the genre (sci-fi and fantasy). It's obvious that Hale is well -read. And that he has paid attention to the great works the masters that came before, but he does that by building his own world vividly and depthful.

superb story, I wish they were more books

Great protagonists, character development and a solid storyline. thanks frankfully absent from infuriating plot gaps or endless side stories. I hope the writer creates more.

Predictable but fun enough.

A bit of a slow starter, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to finish this book but I powered through it and didn't feel as though my time was wasted. I had a few issues with the Slavery subject matter and the cliche I'm a slave owner, but I don't treat them like dirt so I'm a good person character, but this isn't a book for deep thought. if you're the kind of person who is capable of shutting your brain off and just having fun this is a decent story. A lot of the plot elements are cliche, but not deal-breaking.
