Publisher's summary

The Amazon Charts best-selling series.

From the author of Dead Certain comes a twisting novel of friendship, love, and marriage - and all their cunning and deadly betrayals.

Back in 1986, Clint Broden was a novice New York defense attorney building a family with his wife, Anne, and impatient for his career to take off. That’s when his defense of his closest friend, Nick Zamora, made headlines. In spite of his lingering suspicions that his soul mate since childhood had a secret, Clint was dedicated to believing Nick hadn’t murdered his new bride.

Three decades later, Clint is now the celebrated go-to attorney for the rich and famous. Nick is a lauded literary superstar living his dreams in Los Angeles. Though separated by 30 years and 3,000 miles, they’re still bound by one thing - the trial that tested the limits of their friendship.

After all these years, the last thing Clint expects is to be pulled back into Nick’s disruptive life. But this time, his motives for getting involved might be different from proving his old friend’s innocence. It could be Clint’s last chance to force a reckoning with the sins of the past.

predictable, but not bad.

easy read, easy to predict, not bad, but not great. worth your time. calling it a "legal thriller" is a bit of a stretch.

Great Story - difficult narration

Really enjoyed this story and the twists that it took. Predictable but still was an enjoyable story. The hardest part was the male narrator - Chris Andrew Ciulla - there were times when he pulled off characters flawlessly - but most times his inflections were in the wrong places and it made such a difference in the overall tone of the sentence. Rather than getting carried away in the story I was startled back each time it sounded wrong. Despite that, this book is worth the listen!

Adam Mitzner always has a good twist toward the end of his novels. I'll be glad to listen to/read more of his work.

Good Story, great narration.

This was my second time listening. There are a handful of cuss words sprinkled throughout, so, for me, who tries to avoid, it was not overwhelming. It is not overdone or gratuitous. The plot definitely thickens. Characters are well developed & stay in realistic character.

Full of curve balls

I liked the legal perspective of this book but the curve balls just kept coming, to keep me on my toes. What a great book

An excellent courtroom novel.

its amazing how the author defines a male best friend dynamic which could never happen between females. He has a gift for describing the good guy against the bad guy and we are immediately pulled into the conflict with a need to see the good guy rewarded and the bad guy punished. I highly recommend this gripping narrative. it wont disapoint. excellent choice of narrator.
