Publisher's summary

The timeline is wrong. This is discovered when Dr. Albert Snowden and his niece, Emily, travel with Evaran to a galactic cultural exhibition event on Kreagus, the capital home world of the Kreagan Star Empire and galactic superpower near Earth. The Fredorians should be presenting an ancient artifact, known as the Arkaron, to the Kreagan emperor. The problem is they aren't. Evaran has decided to step in and help the Fredorians achieve their destiny while stabilizing the timeline.

They must find the three lost Arkaron crystals in order to assemble the Arkaron. To make matters worse, Seeros, a powerful industrialist, has a bounty on their heads, causing bounty hunters to harass them each step of the way.

As if that weren't enough, an unknown faction is hiring freelance mercenaries to hunt them down as well. Evaran is joined by others, and together, they will have to navigate these perils to assemble the Arkaron and achieve the Fredorian destiny.

Good Continuation for Evaran Chronicles Books

This was a good continuation from the first book in the series. I'm not usually a fan of anything with timelines, time travel, or anything like that, but I do like this series. I actually liked the plot of the book and the story was just as much of an adventure as the last one.

In the beginning of the book, the author gives a brief but comprehensive description of the previous book, Evaran, and the technologies in the book. This was a good review and means that anyone can start listening to the series without having to go back and listen to book 1 if they didn't start with it.

Good narration just as with the previous book.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Exciting followup to the first book

The Fredorian Destiny is an exciting and much longer continuation of the first book, "The Awakening". The protagonists (Evaran, Emily and Albert Snowden) journey continues across space and time. Emily and Albert meet new species of aliens during their travels. The book has a lot of action and character development.

Michael Pauley did an excellent narration of the second book. He has a wonderful palette of voices that work well with this book. His comedic timing is well placed.

Great New Universe

I really enjoyed this listen. Adair Hart creates a rich, full, complex universe that gives full voice to the ancient astronaut theory! Earth is a protected planet but not all alien species obey the law.

Evaran is a time traveler who is working to correct the timeline of a set of earthlings that he rescued from a rogue race of aliens in a different book (which I am going to buy because I enjoyed this one so much!) The travelers visit new places and discover a human destiny that only Evaran can help them achieve. Except they will have to maneuver through time to confront conspiracies, political moves, and one alien who is determined to get even with Evaran for the loss of his family at all costs! Through it all, they care for and protect one another as fully as they are able and discover new companions who they come to love as well.

I hope there is more to come so I can discover who Evaran is and where he comes from.

Fun Sci-Fi Book

Any additional comments?

Even though I didn’t read the first book, there is a short recap of what has already taken place.

Aliens, time travel, a robot, the mysterious Evaran and a galaxy full of other sentient creatures.

This is more of a fun sci-fi book. Entertaining. Enjoyable. Nothing too gruesome. While on a mission to find the crystals for the Fredorians to give to the Kreagan Emperor numerous adventures in different time periods unfold. The time travel always a tricky thing. Someone's past being your future. Or going back in time to right a wrong that has not occurred yet. Think of all the possibilities.

I really like the fact that the names of the species, planets etc. were thought out, not just something that sounds ridiculous. Such as "unobtaianium" from Avitar.

While the story kept me interested and listening, it reminded me of Dr. Who.

Michael Pauley did a great job narrating. Different voices for each character, clear pronunciation, nice pleasant voice is easy to listen to. He really made the characters come alive.

Good world-building, so-so plot.

Any additional comments?

First off, I'm reviewing book 2 without having read book 1, so some of the negatives may be because I jumped in the middle. The author does a good job coming up with believable aliens and alien societies. The characters are all generally likeable, but not super complex. I felt the plot was sort of uneven and the characters often ended up doing things... just because. I did enjoy the book but not sure I'll continue on with the series.

Solid action packed sequel

BLUF: If you enjoyed Book 1, you'll enjoy this one as well.

- You hit the ground running in book 2. You get a quick recap and then the action doesn't stop right up to the end. It continues to surprise me how few series have a quick recap at the start of each book. Kudos to the author for including it.
- The author did a good job in ensuring the characters were well developed but not at the expense of slowing down the story.
- I listened to book 1 and 2 back to back and noticed that the narration appeared to have improved. It made me wonder if Michael Pauley did the narrations back to back and began to hit his groove as he got going? Not saying he wasn't good in book 1; just that it got even better with book 2.

Yes

Any additional comments?

The story didn't grab me, although some parts were exciting. It was an okay story. I haven't listened to the first book so maybe that is why the book didn't hold my attention. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.
