Publisher's summary

A Short Story from Tales of Ordinary Madness

"Roy had communicated, days earlier, to the Zen Master that I was a drunk - unreliable - either faint-hearted or vicious - therefore during the ceremony, don't ask Bukowski for the rings, because Bukowski might not be there. Or he might lose the rings, or vomit, or lose Bukowski."

Bukowski goes off the rails as the best man at a wealthy Hollywood "zen wedding" with his singular viewpoint and sharp insights. He's the only one to bring a gift, and the only one to demand the Zen Master's ears in return.

"The rich understand; they just don't do anything about it."

OBIE winner Will Patton (Remember the Titans, The Good Wife, Armageddon) recreates Bukowski in his visceral prime, along with every eye-popping character in his life, each adversary, lover, and stranger in a lost city.

Hilariously Cynical and Profane

Seemed like this short story could have been turned into a movie along the lines of Raising Arizona or The Big Lebowski.

Attractively crude and disjointed

Am not sure why I liked this crude and disjointed essay, but I did. Maybe I liked it because it was crude and disjointed.

Never kick a Zen Master in the nads.

I keep wondering how much of the police brutality is taken from life, and how much of it is embellishment or exaggeration.

A glimpse into the life of a mad drunkard

The mad fuck acts out his intoxicated will and gets his karma for fucking with the heartless, cruel and despicable mad, insane, world. He does however have a reason for his madness, since the world and the brainless fucks in it are matter than a hatter.
