About this listen

Despite being a young master of the Zearthorn sect, Neave is not a cultivator. And if he can have his way, he never will be.

Years of daily beatings, bullying, and abuse haven’t been enough to make him change his mind, and the ultimatum from his father won’t be either.

Forced to choose between an arranged marriage and a path of cultivation, Neave makes a third choice. In a desperate, last-ditch attempt, he enters a secret vault and encounters a treasure.

A book he should have never touched.

Trapped in a hellish time loop of death and suffering, he fights waves of demons in an impossible challenge of skill, creativity, and perseverance.

What will happen when he finally returns?

Oblivious to the apocalypse he had become.

Unaware of the horrors he had dragged outside.

A unique cultivation story that doesn’t pull its punches

A book that combines the insanity of a death loop and a condensed version of cultivation that doesn’t pretend to be anything but violent, which may not be everyone’s favorite, but I found it extremely entertaining.

Also the author does use a very light voice for the MC that honestly wasn’t my favorite till it grew on me for the absolute absurdity of someone with that voice doing what they do.

Enjoyable Except for One Thing

Seriously, hearing the main character's name so many times almost had me return the book... Otherwise, it is an enjoyable story but the cultivation system really needs to be explained.

Pure bliss until book three.

Well, I’ve been waiting for this type of book for a long time. A cultivation novel with an insane and overpowered MC that's done well. And it delivered as promised, until book three.

With my experience of over 500 Audible titles, I can recommend this book and the next one. Then, wait for book four.

You might ask, what’s wrong with book three? Well, it’s not actually bad, but I expected a totally different story. The escalation happened too fast, and I think we skipped an entire book’s worth of content. At the very least, I was expecting an Auction Arc and a Political Backstabbing Arc, and not to spend a whole book on "that".

Now, I’m waiting for book four, and I’m not sure where the series will go from here.

Potential

Once the story gets past the time loop training it is decent, but feels more like a setup for the story than the story itself. Hopefully in book 2 we can meet the Jester of Apocalypse since the MC doesn't seem to be the Jester. The narrator kinda makes this a hard listen, not bad, just hard.

Pretty Good

The Good: The time loop is really nice, as is the MC mental state within in. Definitely the best part of the book. Post-loop shenanigans is also fun, and I like the reactions of the side characters. Speaking of, the characters were nice, and the plot seems to have a mystery or two floating about.

The Bad: The MC's post-loop insanity is both under and overplayed, so there's nothing really satisfying about it. Didn't really have a good grasp on his powerset after we started messing with the spirit powers - since they add so much un-fun power creep - so late game stakes were a bit wonky. The final chapter was pretty unsatisfying too, with some unbelievable coincidences.

Overall, though, it's an awesome Cultivation novel and time loop story. It's not a masterpiece, but I still fully recommend. If you're curious, the time loop is most similar to the Menocht Loop in terms of story impact, as opposed to something like Dear Spellbook or Mother Of Learning.

A hidden gem.

Not sure how I ended up stumbling upon this series but I'm not regretting diving in.

Good cultivation story

Needs more explanation on how their magic system works. Liked the overall story, but Marv feels a bit contradictory

Damn this was Good!

Narration is very well done! Dono why someone would think a 11 year old would sound like a man, but J.S. does a good job doing a Childs voice and the narration J.S does is on point. Story is a slow burn to a degree. The First few hours are a bit slow but DAMN the ending is like a bullet train and looking forward to the next book. Great story!

Awesome take on cultivation

This book was a fun take on cultivation. I really enjoyed the the main character. I blasted through this book in just a couple days I couldn’t put it down.
