Publisher's summary

Reborn... Given a second chance in a world where magic reigns... Can he save his soul?

Hunter was just a normal average guy. Then he died. That's when the problems started. For one, he wasn't heading for heaven. He was on a one-way trip to the other place.

Secondly, an angel literally pulled him from the brink of Hell and gave him a choice: Go straight to Hell, don't pass go, don't collect $200. Or, be put inside the body of an alternate version of himself on a completely different Earth where magic, not technology, rules, and get a chance to redeem his soul.

The catch? (Isn't there always a catch?)

To earn a place in the afterlife, Hunter must stop an immortal creature called the Nightlord before it can destroy the Free Lands. Did the angel mention that it can't be hurt with normal weapons or magic.

Piece of cake, right?

Don't miss the next action-packed LitRPG adventure from John Cressman, author of The Abduction Cycles!

Good story

I mostly enjoyed this book. A couple abilities were a bit too powerful for me, but overall it was pretty damn good! I'll definitely be continuing the series.

Beginner LitRPG Short Story

This book would have been much better if it didn't end right at the beginning of the story.
what I mean is that excluding the last 2 hours this entire book is one big intro scene. The story is super linear with the MC having arrived to the world basically 5 minutes before the entire country lost to the big bad. Good book for kids... except for the overt attempt to force some semblance of a love triangle/sex thing -esque something...

With plenty of pop-cultural references and an Easter-egg or two you'll have fun!

Initially I really wasn't sure I liked it much Hunter the MC character was OK but let his pseudo father walk all over 'em. And I really didn't like that! So after he was given a quest and a team selected by the king! After his honorary guards died due to an ambush by the enemy of Quetzalcoatlus ridden Ur-sags. It wasn't until that point when he was able to join up with Brandy the Druid, that story became mesmerizing. And Hunter actually even managed to bond with a sword! To find out how that happened you're gonna need to grab the book or better yet grab the audiobook as Adam Verner has a great voice. With plenty of pop-cultural references and even an Easter-egg or two, I know you'll have a good time!

Its okay

The mc comes off as an idiot. Which makes this a difficult listen. Instead of accepting the situation as is especially when he was told by the angel that he would not hear from her again, yet he continues to try and get her to respond… ugh! I’m gonna try to finish

Great story, not the best narration.

It's most likely just me, but I really didn't like the way the narrator used a whiney singsong voice when the characters spoke with each other.
The story was great though.
