Publisher's summary

A sweeping epic fantasy weaves together destiny and ancient magic in this masterful final novel in the beloved Five Warrior Angels trilogy by Brian Lee Durfee

In the age of belief, magic is a myth. But when an apocalyptic crusade comes to the remote border of Gul Kana, that belief is shattered, as is the tenuous peace that held the Five Isles together. Now the prophecies that were used to justify this war are unraveling, revealing a hidden agenda while the world lies in the wake of the degradations of this war.

But a slim skein of hope resides within the hidden truths, long kept secret and scattered throughout the isles—truths less reliant upon prophecy than heroism and great sacrifice.

Not everything is as it seems in this epic, long-awaited conclusion to a trilogy that Booklist raved about as “high fantasy in the vein of Stephen R. Donaldson or David Eddings, with generous helpings from George R. R. Martin.”

The growth of the characters throughout the 3 books.

The plot always was changing & coming coming together very smoothly. The narrator is always spot on & has a great range of emotion’s.

canis ex machina

Imma say canis ex machina! I still love it though. And the performance of the narrator is superb.

this is a great story!

OK, let's start with I love the story. it had some nice world building, some awesome characters, and very little magic elements. if you are wanting wizards and magical fights this is not it. if you want a LOT of plot twist, a world at war, and a heroic journey this definitely checks those boxes. I will be looking for more from this author for sure. the only things I dislike is: I would have like for this to be stretched another one or two books. with this I would have liked to have more character growth seeing them get stronger and better. so I would have more of a emotional investment. I would have like the new players to do more st the end. see their journey and plots. the one thing I disliked is very small. just the religious type intros/quotes at the beginning of chapters.

BEER MUG !!!!!!!!!

This book isn’t perfect the plot is held together by a string some of the characters names are silly ( like a god named viper). It has a brave dog that’s always shows up in the nick of time (it even fights dragons) oh the dog . But even with all its flaws it is entertaining and kept me listening throughout the trilogy. The first two books were free if I wasn’t invested in the story I wouldn’t have bought the final book. I guess that’s the best compliment I can give it. So if you have time and enjoy dark fantasy this book won’t disappoint you’ll laugh , you’ll cry, but most of all you’ll finish saying to yourself, meh it wasn’t that bad . Oh the Narrator is really good btw .

Tell your friends!!

Wow!! That was so entertaining! I hate it’s over. It definitely lends itself for another series.

Dope AF

Non-stop action and intrigue from start to finish. Great conclusion to the Trilogy. Tim Gerard Reynolds could read cooking books and i would listen

Great Story…But For The Kids.

I don’t know what it is with books in this genre putting the weight of all the world, or at least the kingdom, on the shoulders of kids. Maybe reading the story as an adult jades me to the naivety and ignorance of the kid/young adult characters in this story. The “should I,” or “shouldn’t I, or “If only I had…,” moments make me roll my eyes. And there were quite a few in this trilogy. But with that said, the development of the characters was pretty good. And the story kept me entertained enough to finish the trilogy. If you like this genre you’ll like these books. If you’re on the fence about kids being the main characters and dealing with all their ignorance, then just be aware this story has it plenty.
Did I like it? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. Hope this helps.

DO NOT SLEEP ON BLD

This trilogy captured me from the first chapters of the first book and carried me attentively throughout the entire span of the story. I expect this series to blow up and become a highly praised series on the fantasy genre. I feel lucky to have read them. I eagerly await whatever comes next from BLD
