WOW......short but gripping

Absolutely loved it, beautifully written and fantastic narrative by MacLeod Andrews.
I'll certainly be following Aaron in the writing word that's for sure, and stalking this narrator.

Just WOW!!

Holy Moly! This one grabs you from start to finish! I love the twist. And, to mess up those nice leather seats like that! This is a short that leaves you wanting more, but not because it's incomplete like many longer short stories are. It's just so darn good! Mr. Shedlock is a man of many talents. I have no doubt reading this would be amazing. I listened to the audio, however, and Macleod Andrews does a fantastic job. I don't know what to say without giving things away in this short little gem. So, I'll just say, WOW! More please!!

Leaves you wanting more!

I love short listens every once in a while, and I like to change it up from name normal romance listening. After hearing Aaron Shedlock in a podcast talk about his book, I knew I had to go check it out. This is a suspense filled thriller, sure to leave you awaiting the next chapter. Crystal, John and David, all will keep you guessing and give you that feeling of being kept on the edge of your seat. We can only hope there is more coming.

MacLoed Andrews narrates this novella to perfection. From the scared captive to the psychotic killer(s), he is able to give this book the performance it deserves.

Excellent Short Story, I want more!

Wow! What a great short story!!! I do not ever listen to thrillers but when I saw it was written by a favorite narrator or mine, I was very curious. I had no idea what this was about when I started it and I was completely engrossed in the 1st chapter. We sort of get the POV of all three characters and I think that made it so much more intriguing because we get into the heads of some really messed up people. This book made me want to start adding some Thrillers into my library (that is saying a lot since I'm strictly a romance reader).

I am so glad I gave this one a try, the only complaint I have is that I WANT MORE!
This felt like a great opener for a new series. I know I would immensely enjoy a series that follows David in his "travels". It is hard to explain what I mean without giving spoilers so I will just say "take the leap and buy this book, you won't regret it!", well except maybe when your craving more.

McLoed Andrews was incredible as always, He really does the perfect psychotic calm character so well!

pretty good short story

I was quite entertained by this short story. It's about some bad people, but it doesn't get too dark or gory (for me, YMMV). I don't want to say too much and spoil it, but there's one character who I'd kind of like to read a longer book about. I did pretty much guess the ending (the significance of 'the promise'), and if the other characters were at all bright, they should have too, but since it's pretty well established that they're not, it was totally believable, and my figuring it out didn't harm my enjoyment at all. Definitely enjoyed this one.

5 The Promise Stars

I am going to admit it, I am a romance junkie. But I am woman enough to try something new, and when a friend says you have to read this book well I was totally in.

Now knowing it wasn’t my regular genre it didn’t matter at all the moment it started I was drawn in. The writing is so vivid and detailed you can see it in your mind’s eye.
I liked that we got all 3 pov’s of the characters involved, you get invested this way.

I didn’t read the blurb; I just went in blind and was blown away at how much I liked it. I guess it goes to show you that venturing out of your “comforts zone” can be a great thing.
I want more, I am left with wanting. Even if I am a little creeped out, in a good way.

Let’s talk about the fantastic narration. MacLeod just adds that little bit extra, he has great presence, is that a word to describe a narrator? I don’t know but what I do know is this, this was my first audiobook by him and I loved the way he performed it.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Could not look away

Totally enthralling. Each character comes alive with the briefest brush stroke. A tour de force of deftly orchestrated violence.
