Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Fun, wish there was a printout of the recipes
A fun second installment of the Tannie Maria books. A nice vacation read. I was worried at the beginning that there was going to be too much sex scene stuff, since it starts out with the first date where they were planning to spend the night together, but thankfully there wasn’t. The reader is fantastic. While she couldn’t quite convincingly manage a southern American accent for one of the characters in the last book, that wasn’t an issue in this one. Her voices and the lovely South African accent are a big draw, and make me really glad I got the audible version instead of the physical book. She perfectly embodies Tannie Maria’s personality. My only two complaints are that audible doesn’t have the author’s next two books available yet (Death on the Limpopo and the Milk Tart Murders), and that there isn’t a printout available for the recipes at the end of the book. While fun to listen to as an avid cook, it’s a bit of a pain if you actually want to make them (which I do).

A Great Listen!
A fun mystery with great characters. I enjoyed the character development, and the author’s light touch with heavy subjects.
At first the narrator’s accent was challenging to my American ears, used to flatter vowels. As I got into the story and became more comfortable with the narration, though, I really appreciated her nuance.

Sooo good!
I listened to the 1st book after watching episodes 1-6 of the series. i enjoyed it so much that I immediately started this book and I have savored every word, including all of the feels at the end. I absolutely love the characters and their stories and the way the author brings them to life. I don't know very much about South Africa but after these books I am fascinated and looking forward to learning as much as I can. I love the part with the lamb and how that part of the story is resolved - in fact I was very satisfied with how all of the characters stories resolved. I hope there will be another book with Tannie Maria or at least more people from this incredible part of the world.
