Publisher's summary

For humans and vampires, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always–always–guard your heart.

The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.

But winning won’t be easy amongst the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.

Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father’s crown…and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.

But there’s no room for compassion in the Kejari. War for the House of Night brews, shattering everything that Oraya thought she knew about her home.

In a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love, Raihn may understand her more than anyone, but their blossoming attraction could be her downfall.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, a heart-wrenching romance full of dark magic and bloodthirsty intrigue.

This book made me go change my rating of A Court of Thorns and Roses to a 4

Meaning it literally gave me a new standard for the quality of books and performances, highly recommend!

One of the best books of 2023

Great character development, world building, and slow burn romance. Usually (and embarrassingly…) I use my credits for pretty smutty books and most don’t have a lot of plot… with this book, I was very invested in the plot and goings on with minimal “romance”. I can’t wait for the next book (and I won’t be
disappointed if it’s a little less YA…)

Best by far

Finally a story line so intelligently written with insightful character development, humor, suspense, and the perfect balance of captivating story line and simmering romance. The narration was exceptional and added such great nuance to the characters. I’ve listened twice and will likely listen again in great anticipation of the next book! Best book by far in the long line of this genre.

I’m very picky about what books I read, but this one made me forget I was reading type of stories. The narrator did great of showing emotion and I loved it.

Ugh…

This story totally had everything I love about paranormal romance. Draws you in and keeps dangling the per-verbal
Carrot. Yet, I was super disappointed that Oraya was supposed to be a well trained and ruthless.
Yet after entering the Kajari. She was always being rescued in one way or another. This character became underwhelming. She never really rescued herself or triumphed. She was captured, or hurt beyond conc

This was fantastic. I am very bummed the next book on audible does not come out until October. Fast paced, good character development and a great narrator.
