Fae exist only in children’s stories, or so I thought. That was before a nightmarish creature of the Fae Realm dropped into my life. He claimed a seven-pointed mark on my skin signified my magical lineage, the bit of DNA my mother passed down. Days after I arrive in the Fae Realm, I’m thrown into a series of trials titled ‘The Devotion’. I must compete with demons, vampires, elves and more who want to claim their place at the future King’s side. I have no interest in this guy, but it doesn’t help that the King-to-be is a gorgeous, brooding fae.

Lionel is the worst!!! I feel like he is only going to get worse as the series goes on. I loved getting a glimpse into Darius and Lance's relationship and can't wait to see how it affects the rest of the books!

The narration was overly dramatic.
I’ve heard so much about this series so decided to start with this novella. To see if I would like it. I wanted to stop it several times because of the narration. A 14 y/o boy doesn’t have a voice like that. It was all distracting to the story line and often times overly dramatic.

Can’t get enough
I absolutely loved this!!! Hearing Darius and Lance when they still had hope and were not wrapped up in the things that come later in the series is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Love the authors love the narrators, I am 100% a twisted sisters groupie at this point.

It’s alright
The narrator puts weird emphasis on certain words. His voice is gruff, strained and lacks emotion. I’m hoping it gets easier to listen because the story is quite interesting.

Not necessarily a "must"
First of all, Letting a narrator with a voice too deep to read a 14's point of view, it was a ｗ𝓮ἱ𝚛ď choice, I won't ட𝖏ǝ.
I recommend that if you want to try this novella then you should 𝑔𝖏Ⅴǝ 𝚞𝗉 on the audio version because it really ന𝞉ⅾē നē 𝚛О𝞘𝞘 ന𝒚 ē𝒚ēຮ
because it's 𝚛ÍⅾÍ𝗖𝖚𝞘О𝖚ຮ, no 14 years old boy sounds like that.
All in all, It was fine nothing more than that, it was a fine start for the series, but in general I'm not a fan of novelas... I'll start the first one soon.

nice story, kind of confusing
the story has promise but i kind of got lost along the way. i like the dudes voice but he’s literally yelling for the main character and the inflection is way off and it’s really hard to pay attention
