Publisher's summary
On the heels of the international best seller Only Time Will Tell, Jeffrey Archer picks up the sweeping story of the Clifton Chronicles….
Only days before Britain declares war on Germany, Harry Clifton, hoping to escape the consequences of long-buried family secrets, and forced to accept that his desire to marry Emma Barrington will never be fulfilled, has joined the Merchant Navy. But his ship is sunk in the Atlantic by a German Uboat, drowning almost the entire crew. An American cruise liner, the SS Kansas Star, rescues a handful of sailors, among them Harry and the third officer, an American named Tom Bradshaw. When Bradshaw dies in the night, Harry seizes on the chance to escape his tangled past and assumes his identity.
But on landing in America, he quickly learns the mistake he has made, when he discovers what is awaiting Bradshaw in New York. Without any way of proving his true identity, Harry Clifton is now chained to a past that could be far worse than the one he had hoped to escape.

The first audiobook which appeared in Georges Simenon's famous Maigret series, in a gripping new translation by David Bellos.Inevitably Maigret was a hostile presence in the Majestic. He constituted a kind of foreign body that the hotel's atmosphere could not assimilate. Not that he looked like a cartoon policeman. He didn't have a moustache and he didn't wear heavy boots. His clothes were well cut and made of fairly light worsted. He shaved every day and looked after his hands. But his frame was proletarian. He was a big, bony man.

Story
Daughters of Eden focuses on the lives and fortunes of four very different young women at the outbreak of the Second World War. Marjorie, left at a boarding school by her emigrating mother; plain Poppy, pushed into marriage with a mean-spirited aristocrat; Kate, despised by her father, but determined to prove herself; and man-mad Lily, who turns out to be the bravest of them all. That all of them are chosen to work undercover for the espionage unit at Eden Park is a surprise, not least to them.

This trilogy about World War II, largely based on his own experiences as an army officer, is the crowning achievement of Evelyn Waugh's career. Its central character is Guy Crouchback, head of an ancient but decayed Catholic family, who at first discovers new purpose in the challenge to defend Christian values against Nazi barbarism, but then gradually finds the complexities and cruelties of war too much for him.

For all the monumental documentation that Watergate generated - uncountable volumes of committee records, court transcripts, and memoirs - it falls at last to a novelist to perform the work of inference (and invention) that allows us to solve some of the scandal’s greatest mysteries - who did erase those eighteen-and-a-half minutes of tape? - and to see this gaudy American catastrophe in its human entirety. In Watergate, Thomas Mallon conveys the drama and high comedy of the Nixon presidency through the urgent perspectives of seven characters we only thought we knew.

Simply Amazing!
Where does The Sins of the Father rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Sins of the Father is brilliant! It's one of the best books I've listened to. Archer never fails to impress, and this trilogy is my favorite of all of his epics. Alex Jennings is fantastic, and I look forward to his voice in the morning as I drive in to work.
What does Alex Jennings and Emilia Fox bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Alex Jennings and Emilia Fox are perfect as narrators. I couldn't imagine the book read by anyone else. Love the perfect accents!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The main reaction at the end was "Really, you are going to leave us hanging like that?" I anxiously await the next novel. Hurry up, Jeffrey Archer!

Great follow up to Book 1 and Cliffhanger to Book
First and foremost, I can't even recommend Book 2 without listening to or reading Book 1. I suppose it's possible to enjoy, but you'll get much more out of them by taking them in order.
Book 1 is very slow and long in character development. Book 2 picks up the action and character's on a riveting pace.
The series, which I understand is to be 6 Books, is a time capsule of the life and times of the characters on a fictitious base around historical times and events. The book really feels like a Ken Follett novel, which is a good thing to me.
Overall, I can't wait for Book 3, I expect it to be "Can't put down" as well.
Highly Recommended - Both books taken in order.

Brilliant!
Jeffrey Archer does not disappoint in this 2nd installment of the Clifton Chronicles!
I personally preferred the male narrator from the first book better than Mr. Jennings overall, but seeing as he seems to be the one and only chosen narrator for the remainder of the series, I will have to resign myself to the production company’s choice. I am disappointed that Ms. Fox will not be continuing, and am very curious as to why this decision was made.
That being said, the performance did not distract from the richness and fast pace of this story, which draws the listener in immediately and is very difficult to walk away from. I finished in 2 and 1/2 days. I am happy to say that Harry does live to see Emma again- not really a spoiler if you read the summaries of all the books, and listened to the author’s interview at the end of the first book.
Both Harry and Giles are now War Heroes, whose stories of heroism are not without some nail biting twists, and are definitely proud moments for the Allied Forces.
Harry and Emma are still in love; no surprise there...but will they be allowed to legally wed?
That’s the cliff hanger in this ending. To be answered eagerly in the 3rd installment...to which I will be downloading later today.
