I wish the author would have read his work

I you have ever listened to Dr. Curt Thompson; you probably understand why this book for me falls flat by the narrator.

The author seems for me to be the only authentic voice with difficult but an important work such as this.

I think this book is helpful for anyone who wants a more abundant life

life changing

I have listened to this book several times now, and feel like I'm starting to understand how shame affects my thought life and how I therefore interact with those I come into contact. The book is personal and tells a great story of the writer himself and some of those he got to counsel. This book and others, with the help of a regular Centering Prayer routine is helping me make changes I was not able to make before.

A must listen for EVERYONE!

It is irrelevant what your upbringing and past might have been, reading this book will empower you to begin remembering and working through some of the hidden effects of Shame you never knew were there, and having negative effects on you today. as Dr Thompson says going through this process with a group of trusted friends would be best if you are able, please read this book if you think you don't suffer from shame currently or from your past that's fine but the tools and the Insight he shares in this book will help you be more empathetic and a blessing to those around you.

Helpful to Life

We all deal with it. This book helps identify the many areas it affects in our everyday life and encourages ways to break away from its power. Worth reading!

what a great book! I think this book brought more revelation about how relationships become disintegrated between ourselves and other people than anything else I've ever read.

Beyond what may be an unintended over-personification of shame, as though ‘it’ were itself alive and ‘personally’ directing the reality of our IPNB lived experience, the book is OUTSTANDING, and Dr. Thompson’s learned, gracious approach that is always aimed at healing our broken and alienated/isolated lives brings a long overdue and necessary layer to what it means to be human. To be in Adam. And more importantly to be in Christ. It cannot be unintended that the Holy Spirit was pleased to ensure the frank, opening and cautionary salvo of Genesis 2:25, and then in so many places throughout Scripture to remind us of its far reaching (IPNB) and painful effects, and then in Christ to deal its death blow for our ‘already/not yet’ eschatological joy (Romans 10:11, et al). Among so many other helpful titles that could be mentioned, Myles Werntz’ recent release “From Isolation to Community” was for me a fitting corollary on this subject. By creational design, we need each other, and that need can only be fully (but yes, in this life only partially) realized in Christ. Thank you Dr. Thompson!

Listen, Cry, & Listen Again

While there are sections that get technically, this book engages in every level - spiritual, relational, mental, and emotional. It will be a book I return too often in life and recommend to everyone.

Important book

This is such good information. So thankful for the blending of science and theology to bring healing to hearts and relationships.
The performance was not good however. I found it to be robotic with little warmth one would hope with such a work. Syntax was rather inauthentic which smacks in the face of the themes in the book. Would love to have heard it from the author.
