Publisher's summary

About three things I was certain.

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood.

And Third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife, between desire and danger.

Deeply sensuous and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

The differences from the movie

I am so used to hearing the movie Bella I was not crazy about the narrator of the story.

Great storyline

This is my first time reading this book, and it's very good. The chemistry is perfect. This book was written with time and effort. I recommend to anyone who haven't read it.

I do love the book

I’m not so sure about the one who reads the story though. There wasn’t a lot of expression in her voice.

My Daughter’s Delight

When she was an adolescent our younger daughter asked if my wife and I would take her to a Broadway theater. Not to see a show. To watch Stephanie Meyer introduce a new book. We then purchased it at midnight, along with thousands of other girls and their parents. The movies were good but this narrator is not trying to be James Dean, stammering each line. She’s bright, long-breathed and articulate, as Stephanie perhaps expected her star-crossed lovers to be. A lovely trip down memory lane.

A Wonderful, engrossing Saga!

I did read the series, and really love the story which is actually why I also supplemented it on my IPOD in audiobook. S. Meyer's tale of Edward and Bella is sweet, and compelling...the characters become like friends you want to spend time with. It has it's romance, dramatic moments, and there are times when you shake your head at the behavior of or a choice a character makes, (Usually Edward or Jacob), but you love them anyway. The narrator's voice is perfect,(not too young, not too old) she has a nice voice and is spot-on as Bella. She even sounds a little bit older as you go through all four books....natural progression. For those other unknown reviewers who gave her voice a "thumbs down", I must say, I disagree and I humbly suggest you have your ears checked. I would like to hear what does sound like a "good voice" to you. Ms. Kedushen sounds lovely compared to some of the other voices I've heard in samples, ..some of them unpleasant enough or inappropriate enough to the story to keep me from purchasing a story I might otherwise like.

Unexpectedly suprised & intoxicated

I didn't buy into the whole Twilight insanity from the start. Instead, I was looking for a new book while on travel and a friend suggested that I really might like this. Hesitant to "waste" 2 credits on a "fad", I figured it "was" recommended.

I have to say the first three chapters went horribly slow and I stopped several times. Coming off reading "The Physick book of Deliverance Dane" written by a harvard novelist, I was a bit bored with the teenage writing style.

But it grew on me, and soon I was intrigued at the human/vampire romance, and the odd obsession of first love. It made me recall that insane longing and several parts literly left me holding my breath, or with my heart barely breathing. I got wrapped up in the story and in the intoxicating love between Bella and Edward.

I have to admit, as soon as I finished, I couldnt wait to see the movie, but other than attractive characters, it was rather terrrible in comparison. Actors were ok, but the story was all wrong... stick to the books unless you just want to tie the pretty faces to your reading. I'm definitely more than tempted and intrigued in buying the rest of the series.

If you want to be swept off your feet in a way much more eerie than a typical romance novel, and like vampire stories this might be for you. The descriptions of touches of love are purely intoxicating.

Really, Really good!

This started out so slowly, I almost put it down, since I am a long way out of High School. Then the pace picked up and now I can't put it down! I'm here to buy #2 and #3. So be sure to give it a chance!
