About this listen

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller

When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair.

Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I will make him see that I'm still the woman he married; attractive, successful, the glue that holds our perfect family together. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own, something that would destroy everything I've already sacrificed so much for.

But when the police arrive at my door asking questions about Alex's death that I can't answer, and threatening text messages start appearing on my phone, I know that someone close has been watching me very carefully.

Annoying dumb main character

The story has potential and the narrator was good but the main character kept being so stupid....I only listened to a few chapters but I couldn't stand the constant mind chatter of the character: "maybe I won't get caught for covering up a death, maybe my husband isn't cheating, maybe I won't get caught for stealing someone else's work".... that kinda thing just annoys me.

Don’t Let The Title Fool You

This was an exceedingly well written story. The narrator made it a good listen. The title Unfaithful and the brief description implies that the story is about infidelity. That is only one aspect of the plot. It important because the infidelity prompts the main character to make some stupid decisions, that and her excessive consumption of wine and spirits. The main character is a university professor and a whiner at times, but also a brawler as she conveys how she would like to “beat someone up” or stab someone. She doesn’t back down and attempts to directly address the conflicts with which she is confronted. There are parts of the story that generated a lot of stress for me due to mine own personal experiences and issues. Fortunately I was able to get pass those sections. I laugh at reviews that say that events are implausible. This fiction folks and entrainment. I will listen to this narrator again as I search for stories that she is reading.

Really good

This was a really good book. It got a little strange and maybe too much going on in the middle but stick with it!

Great read but no Spoilers here!

This was a pretty good book however, it was not really what I was expecting after having read the summary. Also, I wouldn't classify this as a thriller or even psychological but it is what it is. Anna just really had a lot going on for one person and it all came to a head in the last quarter of the book. Then, there was that ending that completely got me because I did not at all see that twist happening.

Good story. Unexpected turns. I didn't really see that last couple coming. Thanks for a great read.

Not the same old storyline...

A bit slow to pick up, but then twists and turns to the very end. Great book!

Mental

This story has both blatant lies and lies we tell ourselves. Both lies are hurtful and become seeded as truth inside our minds. The more we tell lies and listen to them the more they become a part of who we are.
I knew something was very wrong with perceptions within the characters of Unfaithful. It isn’t until the end of the book that it becomes clear as to what was skewed.
If you want to read a book that has many bumps along the reading road, this book may be for you.

Felt like a Lifetime Movie

I'd just finished reading a Lianne Moriarty book prior to this one, so upon listening to this sub-par writing and cheesy plotline, I found myself more disappointed than I would've been had my standards been lower. The main character, Ana, is difficult to sympathize with or even like as everything she says or does comes from a place of fear, anxiety, or paranoia, which also makes her a bit unhinged at times . She has a friend, June, who she's absolutely terrible to. The story is a Lifetime Movie spectacle through and through with unrealistic conversations- (so many times I thought, 'Who SAYS THAT?!'- dramatic, cheesy, scenarios, and of course, everything falls into place perfectly. It's just a really sub-par script and story, and may be suited best for someone who just wants to check out a little and not be piqued or stimulated intellectually.
