Publisher's summary

Exposed as the Contender at the top of the Rankings, Thaden has to make a run for it….

After the Assimilation System inadvertently outed Thaden as a Contender, as well as confirming that he was at the top of most of the Rankings, the Lifewarden has to leave the town of Ashcleft as soon as possible. Why? Because with his Level being over 21, he can now be attacked by other Contenders with a lower Level than him; they are eager to bring him down so that they’ll have a chance at the top spot, which will guarantee that their families back home on Earth will be safe. With the completely unfair Contender versus Contender system in place, he can’t defend himself even if he had that capability, as any damage he might inflict upon them is immediately negated.

Fortunately, Thaden escapes those who wish him harm, but as he travels further from Ashcleft, he realizes that he doesn’t exactly have a plan on how to proceed now that his status has been revealed. Venturing into the wider world of Tarth has its own problems, though the danger to him is largely in the form of other Contenders learning his identity, and not the monsters that roam across the landscape or the dungeons that might challenge him. Despite those dangers, the Lifewarden decides to begin accumulating more of the resources needed to Level-up; but when he unwittingly stumbles upon a challenge that the Assimilation System has designed, Thaden is completely unprepared for the consequences of his actions.

But in reality, it’s the world of Tarth that is completely unprepared for him….

This story contains an overpowered MC with a normally non-offense-based Class, LitRPG progression mechanics and stats, and isekai/portal fantasy elements. Contains no sexual content or harems.

Fantastic story!

Now that other people have joined the world, will he be able to get a long with them? will they get a long with him? What happens if he is just a lone wolf healer without the ability to attack? Should he party?

All these questions and more are answered, now I'm eagerly awaiting book 3!

Overpowered healer vs the world

Unprepared Healer

Thaden had been doing very well for himself since he his mana does not deplete, no matter what he casts. That was until the assimilation system announced that he was the top of the contender board. Not only that, but anyone under level 21 can kill someone level 21 or over. The higher level character can’t even fight back. Now. Thaden has to worry about other contenders even more than the dungeon monsters!

This book had a lot of fun twists in it! There were a few times that I was sure that I had the story figured out and then it made a hard turn in the opposite direction. Tharen is developing nicely. My only complaint is that it would be nice to get more party interactions. Miles Meili does an excellent job with the narration!

Tharen isn’t overly cautious and isn’t emotionally impulsive

I like the passaging of the story, it is not too fast and not too slow. The voice actor portrayal of thaden marches how I imagined him sounding from when I read the first book.

Nice sequel

The MC is pretty weird. He has a good heart but his anti-social nature makes him super awkward. His OP nature seems more luck based than skill which is a little annoying at this point. The story was entertaining and I look forward to what happens next. The narration was really good.

Love the second book!

I just want to keep calling the main character glitch. the story continues on exploring a world I would not wish to be isekai'd to. Expect action and a fast paced story but remember it is on the edge of Grimdark. This contest/race to prove humanity doesn't suck continues and the critters just keep coming. Very crunchy spells and stats fly through a bent leveling exploit as the MC crushes the dungeons set before him. I cant wait for the next one.

As good as Book One

Just a straight forward lone wolf OP healer trying to speed level in an Alien world for the salvation of Earth. Narrator is smoother in 2nd book. Still no gods, no ethics, no politics...etc. love it.

Breath of Fresh Air in the Genre

This falls right into the Isekai, LitRPG, Over Powered Main Character type of book of which there are WAY more than people not familiar with the genre would think, but because there are so many tropes that are easy to fall into a lot of them start feeling like each other. This one is different.

The MC is OP but he has problems that still impact him, because of this we get the cool magic and battles but still get to see the character has some growth.

The Magic system is all about levels, achievements and stats, And even though there are parallels it doesn’t fall back onto the classic Strength, Agility, Intelligence type system and so the stat distribution is set apart from other books in the genre.

Because the book is about a support class the spells feel new since it’s not about wielding fireballs and lightning blasts and it’s fun to see how the Author has the MC think through on how to exploit healing spells to do damage.

I also love the recap at the beginning of the book. I listen to so many of these that I start blending stories in my head and so the recap helps me get back into the world. Solid follow up to the first book.
