Alice's first concern is her baby – she's pregnant with her first child, and she's desperate to see her husband, Nick, whom she knows will be worried about her. But Alice isn't pregnant. And Nick isn't worried. Alice is the mother of three children and her hostile husband is in the process of divorcing her. Alice has lost ten years of her life.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Truly could identify
I am the real-life Elizabeth! Whether you have been through fertility treatments or not. This book really brings home the heartbreaking journey, the trauma, the disappointments the isolation you live in when walking this path.
I loved this book, it reminded me that we have to remember who we are and keep working at our marriages. We should be able to ask for help without feeling guilty or being full of criticism and we should try to be present in every moment. Love this narrator - she brings all of the characters to life!

I love Liane Moriarty's Books - she's so real!
Would you consider the audio edition of What Alice Forgot to be better than the print version?
Haven't read the print version
What did you like best about this story?
Liane (and Caroline) make me laugh, think, feel sad, feel aligned with the characters, just enjoy the whole story.
Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?
Alice, but also her sister Elizabeth, and the children. Also enjoyed the men's characters - very true to life - both the wonderful and the challenging!
If you could rename What Alice Forgot, what would you call it?
No idea!
Any additional comments?
Thanks to Liane for writing these creative stories, and bringing characters that are so real to life. I have enjoyed many of her books. And Caroline reads her books very well - her voice suits the characters in Liane's stories.

I am glad I finished it
This book started really slowly for me. I almost gave up on it. I find it dragged on until about the last third of it. Notwithstanding, the author's creativity and writing style was 'delicious' from start to finish - the choice of words, phrases, the expressions, humour, had me giggling as well as at the narrator's accent and intonations. The character development is superb. All of the characters came to life and they were so well described you could picture them and feel for them. The story evoked lots of emotions - pain, empathy, anger, dislike, fear, laughter. I loved Franny and the novel idea of a blog. That was hilarious, I actually looked forward to those parts of the story. It's just that the story dragged on for too long initially. I particularly gained a deeper appreciation for women with infertility issues and am happy at the outcomes except Nick's, but I understand. I am glad I stuck with it to the end. I think I will go hit my head now lol
