Story
These people will give anything for the idols they worship, be they rock stars, actors or authors. Or even serial killers. Lori is just such a fanatic. Her obsession is with Edmund Cox, a man of sadistic cruelty who butchered more than 20 women. She’s gone so far as to forge a relationship with him, visiting him in prison and sending him letters on a regular basis. She will do anything to get close to him, so when he gives her a task, she eagerly accepts it. She has no idea of the horror that awaits her.

Six strangers arrive at the home of preeminent puzzle master Alexei Vasiliev for the reading of his will. Among them are the deceased's widow, who'd already begun divorce proceedings, a virologist troubled by actions in his past, and a convicted murderer on day release. The potential beneficiaries will split Vasiliev's $150M fortune if they participate in his last great work. The choice is simple: leave the house with nothing or continue in the hope of solving the six interconnecting escape rooms within this house.

Publisher's summary
She lives with no name. She has never left her room. All she has ever known is pain and abuse - until now. Today, she will breathe fresh air for the first time, feel sunshine against her skin, and even witness human kindness. But she has a point to make a bleak, violent point and when she meets her neighbour, Serenity, she finds the perfect pupil.
Forced to endure a lesson distilled from a nightmarish existence, Serenity must face unflinching evil, witness the unspeakable, and question her most deeply-held views, until at last she has no choice but to fight for her family's survival.
What Good Girls Do is a shocking extreme horror/thriller, and the first in the Elizabeth series. The sequel, What Good Men Do, is also available now.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Harry Adams has always loved horror movies, so it’s not a total coincidence that she took the job cleaning house for movie director Javier Castillo. His forbidding graystone Chicago mansion, Bright Horses, is filled from top to bottom with terrifying props and costumes, as well as glittering awards from his career making films that thrilled audiences—until family tragedy and scandal forced him to vanish from the industry.

Story
Once upon a time, we were free to go wherever we chose. It wasn’t so long ago. The history of humanity, is a tale of constant motion. People are supposed to move about. We have imaginations which encourage us to dream about life in other places, bodies which are built to roam, and hands which can make an array of vehicles. A few of us even possess the “Wanderlust Gene”, which encourages us to take risks–to sail across unchartered oceans, and launch ourselves towards faraway planets.

So Much Red Stuff
I went into this audiobook blind with absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I don’t want to just say this was an excellent book (although it was quite well written) because that doesn't quite sum it up. What I will say is that this book depressed the F#@k out of me. I have mostly stuck to the more humorous side of splatterpunk up to this point, or at least stuff that I could find humor in, and this was absolutely not that. However if you're looking for a story to fill you with intrigue, despair, and remind you of the darkest side of humanity, this is it. The child-like voice that the narrator puts on when telling the story from the girl's perspective felt like nails being driven into my ears in the beginning, but as the story progressed I realized there was really no other way to go about it. It was kind of a short listen, a bit over 4 hours, but I feel like that shorter format fit the story well.
