Publisher's summary

Ten excited co-workers arrive at the beautiful Avondale Resort on a remote island in the middle of the Caribbean, having been told that they are being rewarded for their hard work and productivity. But their relaxing tropical getaway soon turns into a murderous nightmare.

After an extravagant first night dinner, the guests retire to their lavish suites only to be awakened by an ear-splitting bang. They rush to the smoking parlor to find Jordan, the company’s intern, dead - a massive hole in his chest. Giles, the consummate English butler who seems to be in charge, announces that they must solve the crime or be the next victim.

The killer, who has booby-trapped the island and cut off phone and Internet connections, is hiding among them. Is it the HR representative with a penchant for Bloody Marys, the twenty-two-year-old claims processor with the purity ring, or perhaps the head chef of the company cafeteria? The killer plays with their minds, inviting them to explore the beautiful resort, from the infinity pool with the high dive to the white sand beach complete with jet skis and snorkel gear.

Anthony E. Zuiker is the creator and executive producer of the CSI franchise, which includes CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, and CSI: NY. His mystery reality show, Whodunnit?, is his first foray into unscripted television. He lives in Los Angeles with his three children and his wife, Michelle.

Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island is performed by the show's host/butler, accomplished narrator Gildart Jackson.

Good freebie

A quick who done it that was pretty good and also a freebie from Audible. The age old story of a group of trapped people forced to play a game for their individual survival. Some of the killings were pretty abrupt and others were done with a little flair. Good narration that added to the book.

The formula is starting to get tired

I truly enjoyed book 1 in the series and looked forward to the second book.

But the gimmick that has the same butler handling this second "game" is too bizarre to believe.

Also, some of the plot twists in this second book violate the spirit of the premise of the game.

I'm glad the books were free, and I enjoyed the two of them. But I don't think I'll continue the series.

Awesome

The book twists all the way to the conclusion. I enjoyed hearing the book, everything together just brought the story into an amazing tale. It leaves you wanting more

Amazing!

I love love this book. And the one that comes before it. Anthony Zuiker paints an amazing picture of murder, mystery, comedy, and suspense. At times there is repetition and the story slows down, but who doesn't like a classic whodunnit? Highly recommended

Would you listen to Free: Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island again? Why?

Very entertaining and FREE! Amazing!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Free: Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island?

We couldn't figure out whodunnit until the end. That's what makes a good mystery!

What does Gildart Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great voice!

Great story

This story was amazing. I loved the story line and I loved everything about it. However, there are a few things I would’ve changed. The narrator was great but a few of the words he said were slightly different from their actual pronunciations. And when you speed up the voice even by .25 it gets quite a bit jumbled. So you can’t have a faster reading speed without sacrificing the way it is read. Therefore I would’ve preferred a faster narration and for words to be pronounced correctly. But overall it was a great book.

Why?

If you could sum up Free: Whodunnit? Murder on Mystery Island in three words, what would they be?

You find out 'whodunnit' at the end of the book and it seems rather pointless. You don't discover the WHY they did it.
The methods of each individual character demise was inventive and unique, not something you find in most murder mysteries. It did keep you listening to find out who and how.

What about Gildart Jackson’s performance did you like?

I liked the narration - not too involved in the murders but moved the story along. His polite butler as the story teller was in good voice.

Any additional comments?

I'm left with the feeling that I should have read the former stories (if there are any) and the certainty that I should read the next one.

Any additional comments?

Earlier this year I started listening to audio books while I work. Just another way for me to get in more books to read. I was tired of listening to the radio each day and wanted some type of background noise. A friend and author recommend I start listening to audio book. I told her that I did not think I could get involved in the book as much as I did when reading. She kept pushing me to just try. Well I tried it and I have to state that I love it. I quickly listened to most anything I could find and found that my local library carried so many audio books. If you have not tried audio books I highly suggest you give them a try. You just might be surprised at how great they really are.

I love the start of this book. The story took me back to Fantasy Island staring Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize, a show I loved to watch. A mystery island that will keep the guest entertained while they grow stronger as they face challenges.

The narrator Gildart Jackson was a joy to listen to. His voice kept me enthralled in the story. The performance was great. The overall story was entertaining. It allowed me to visualized each character and the narrator helped kept each person separate in my mind.

For a mystery audio book the bunnies and I recommend to any who enjoy mystery.

The bunnies and I give this book Bunny4_thumb.jpg carrots.
