  • Summary

  • Kat and Moose is a true-life podcast where we explore the quirks of being human.

Kat and Moose Podcast is a true-life podcast exploring the quirks of being human. Some have called us a "funny mental health podcast." We are three friends (Kat, Moose, and Producer Sara) who share stories and explore topics related to spirituality, mental health, mid-life, relationships, bodywork, loving ourselves, and living our best lives. We also sprinkle in some enneagram and five-element theory. We work in the music industry in Nashville, which also gets dabbled in.

"To quote the fabulous Indigo Girls, my thanks to the Kat & Moose podcast because "You helped me take my life less seriously."

  • Brain Exercises and Letting Go

What if you could transform your brain health with just a few simple exercises? This week, Kat shares her fascinating journey at the Brain Health Clinic in Nashville, where Dr. Tyler Hurst, a neurochiropractor, prescribed her unique exercises like neuromuscular pressure points and video game-like activities. Alongside Moose and Producer Sara, we explore the impact of these practices on balancing the nervous system, and the importance of supplementary habits such as gratitude journaling, Qigong, and staying hydrated.

Moose and Sara get personal as they reflect on the emotional complexities of letting go, inspired by Glennon Doyle’s heartfelt announcement about closing down her nonprofit, Together Rising. We chat about cold plunges, saunas, and the invasive nature of targeted advertising before diving into the challenges of ending significant commitments. By sharing our own experiences, we uncover the fear and discomfort associated with letting go and how observing others can guide us through these transitions.

We round off the episode with a nostalgic trip down memory lane, touching on everything from keto diets and 1-900 numbers to childhood sticker collections and Trapper Keepers. A particularly poignant moment is our rediscovery of the 70s spiritual song "Put Your Hand in the Hand," evoking fond memories and laughter. Join us for a heartfelt yet humorous exploration of brain health, personal growth, and the simple joys that make life sweeter.

Why do we feel the need to hide our natural body hair? Join us for a thought-provoking conversation on the societal norms surrounding personal grooming. Producer Sara shares her journey of embracing her pit hair, and we all question why leg hair is often deemed unacceptable. And if you’ve been a long-time listener, you’ll appreciate our nostalgic return to the "animal den" recording setup and our lighthearted critique of musicians using iPads for lyrics.

Ever wondered who can win a first-place award for eating watermelon? Moose kicks off a series of hilarious stories, including a family prank involving a photo album of porcelain dolls. Our banter takes a creepy turn as we discuss the unsettling experience of Kat having dolls in a treatment room. The laughter doesn't stop there, as we eagerly anticipate attending a Sarah McLachlan concert—a night we’ve been looking forward to for months.

Politics, debates, and escape plans—oh my! We dive into the recent political debate, scrutinizing the candidates' performances and the effectiveness of muted microphones. We cover everything from Trump’s unexpected calmness to Biden’s fluctuating energy. Our conversation then shifts to the complexities of political leadership transitions and the importance of preserving democratic values. And for a twist, we even toyed with the idea of escaping to Canada, drawing humorous comparisons to "The Handmaid's Tale." Tune in for humor, reflection, and excitement for what's to come!

Have you ever wondered why worship leaders use iPads for lyrics? Join us as we kick off with a humorous critique on this modern-day quirk before diving into an unexpectedly raw therapy session that left our therapist speechless. We spice things up with a playful vocal exercise and then take an intriguing detour into the realm of brain parasites, featuring the peculiar case of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s brain worm.

Get ready for some light-hearted fun in our "Pod Loft Shenanigans" segment. We share chuckles over quirky names for personal devices and unexpected visual mishaps, all while basking in the holiday spirit—even in the middle of summer! We’re super excited about our new podcast space and invite you to help us name it. Plus, hear about our whimsical plans for Patreon content and the hilarious giveaway of 72 mosquito headnets.

Our exploration continues with a heartwarming segment on healing through humor and connection, featuring personal anecdotes and an inspiring discussion about an improv class at Third Coast Comedy Club. We also navigate the complexities of trust in therapeutic conversations, reflect on the shifting nature of conspiracy theories, and delve into the polyvagal theory to understand our body's reactions to stress and safety. We wrap up with a heartfelt note of appreciation and an invitation to connect with our incredible community. Don’t miss this eclectic mix of laughter, personal growth, and fascinating insights!
