  • Chef Fadi Kattan on honouring and celebrating Palestinian Food, Culture and its People
    Jul 6 2024

Fadi Kattan is a Palestinian Chef from Bethlehem, owner of two restaurants: Akub in London and Fawda in Bethlehem.

He has also recently launched his first cookbook - Bethlehem: A Celebration of Palestinian Food.

I had the pleasure of sitting across the table from Fadi in his restaurant.
We talked about resilience, community, deep roots and the importance of preserving and celebrating the ancient culture of the Palestinian people.

We also finish the episode with him sampling a bowl of red bean soup made from my grandfather's slow cooker. An exchange of stories and cultures passed down through generations - in the form of a comforting bowl of soup.

Elaine Lin Hering is a facilitator, speaker and writer who has recently launched her national bestseller book UNLEARNING SILENCE.

It's a book about the pervasive influence of silence.
How we've learned to be silent, how we've benefited from silence, how we've silenced others -and how we might choose another way.

Join us for an honest and reflective conversation about her book and how we might use our voices to be heart, to create spaces in which other people can be heard, and understading how power, identity, privilege and learned patters lead us to silence.

  • Sathnam Sanghera on widening the conversation on the British Empire
    May 9 2024

Sathnam Sanghera is a British journalist and the Sunday Times bestselling author of Empireland: How Modern Britain is Shaped by its Imperial Past.

He has recently launched the highly-anticipated, acclaimed sequel to Empireland, Empireworld: How British Imperialism Has Shaped the Globe.

In our conversation, we chat through the paradoxical legacies raised in his book through the lens of someone (me!) who was born and raised in an ex-British Colony, Malaysia.

Book Empireland and Empireworld made me see how intricately woven my life (and life choices) have been with the complex (and often contradictory) legacies of the British Empire.

Sathnam is also author of the novel Marriage Material and the memoir The Boy With The Topknot, (a memoir that was heartbreaking, laugh out loud funny, and tender in equal parts)
